The book was an immediate hit with fly-fishing enthusiasts as it provided a fresh look at the sport as well as the devotion and passion that keeps trout devotees up all night, tying flies all winter and exploring newfound waters in hard-to-reach locales. Trout Bum is as much about why people fish as as it is about the act of fishing. Following the book's launch, many anglers quit their jobs, moved out West and became trout bums.
