MORE than a quarter of a million people quit the Eastern Cape for other provinces in the five years to 2011, Statistics South Africa said, denting hopes for economic growth in the province. The Eastern Cape’s outward migration has raised concerns in the midst of a restructuring mining sector, upon which the province’s rural population depends.
