CSA Program, also known as Compliance, Safety, and Accountability, aims to enhance road safety for all drivers. It assesses motor carriers' compliance through a CSA score that reflects their adherence to established requirements.
While the CSA score may initially seem like another compliance concern, with the right approach, it can become one of your valuable business assets.
The FMCSA's Safety Measurement System (SMS) evaluates motor carriers' safety and compliance across seven Behavior Analysis and Safety Improvement Categories (BASICs). This assessment considers factors such as safety violations, crash severity and recency, and fleet size.
The CSA program, implemented in November 2010, emphasizes carrier responsibility in promoting road safety. Each carrier's CSA score represents their commitment to maintaining safe roadways. The score ranges from 0 to 100, with higher values indicating a lower level of safety. CSA scores are regularly updated through the FMCSA's Safety Measurement System (SMS).
Since its inception, the CSA point system has undergone revisions to address fairness towards drivers involved in non-fault accidents. Further changes to the program are also possible in the future. Please watch this video on CSA scores.
We offer full trucking authority packages to make the launching of your trucking company business go more smoothly. The Department of Transportation regulates safety so doing it right in the begging is very important.
