Welcome to THE TRUE DETECTIVES PODCAST, your cool weekly show for strange investigations, surprising clues and stories that refuse to fit neatly into a case file.
An alien autopsy on film. A sculptor who says he made the alien. And a producer who insists that recreation is not the same thing as a hoax. This INVESTIGATION follows the competing accounts behind the 1995 footage and asks the question that a convincing model cannot answer: where is the independently authenticated original?
John Humphreys described building the figure seen in the film and appearing as a surgeon. Ray Santilli later defended a restoration account. Those statements make for a stranger story than a simple confession—but they do not establish a 1947 alien autopsy. We separate firsthand production claims from inherited explanations, and a 2006 comedy from historical evidence. The special effects are one question; the chain of evidence is another. Apparently, even a mystery needs its paperwork.
Follow the investigation through the handmade figure, the disputed origin story and the boundary between something that looks convincing and something that has been verified. Rate and follow the show for more detective stories, unexpected investigations and fact-versus-mystery puzzles.

Welcome to THE TRUE DETECTIVES PODCAST, your cool weekly show where the strangest investigations get an evidence check—and a raised eyebrow. Sidney Reilly’s reputation comes wrapped in aliases, audacious exploits and enough legend to make a film studio ask for a bigger budget. But a dramatic reputation is not a verified alibi for every story told about him.
This historical INVESTIGATION follows the record behind his final return to the Soviet Union and examines the Trust without turning missing evidence into cinematic certainty. The arrest and execution are not a cliffhanger we will pretend never happened. The harder question is what this case actually demonstrates—and what later retellings have added to it.
Expect tangled loyalties, competing assessments and a careful separation of historical evidence from irresistible spy mythology. When a story sounds almost too perfect, which part deserves another look?

The client wants her husband found. The security footage wants the detective blamed. And the one clue that may save him is carrying someone else’s fear.
Welcome to THE TRUE DETECTIVES PODCAST, your cool weekly show for strange investigations, unexpected clues and mysteries with terrible timing. The Warlock’s Wife is a fictional supernatural noir story from Flash Fiction—not an actual murder investigation or evidence that psychic powers exist.
Our unnamed private investigator does not see the future. He senses echoes left on objects: the thief’s clammy hands, the imprint of violence, the emotional residue people would rather leave behind. When a desperate woman arrives with a missing-husband story, lavender and an unnatural chill suggest this is not the ordinary walk-in he was hoping for. Lost cats are suddenly looking like an excellent business model.
The trail runs through bent moonlight and the traces of a botched summoning. Then footage near a magical murder appears to show the detective’s face. The apparent client is a rival, and the recording carries a trace of the glamour used to shift the blame. Finding the deception is one thing. Surviving the warehouse showdown is another. His .38 is little help against the creature her ambition has conjured.
The twist clings to a stolen necklace: a whispered name and an unexpected response from a demon’s ex-wife. What follows is less a tidy arrest than an interdimensional custody dispute with a spectacular disregard for property. The authorities settle on gas leaks. The detective is left with a wrecked office and the sense that the city’s cracks are still letting something through.
This INVESTIGATION follows the actual clue trail without supplying names, a spell recipe, a confirmed fate for the missing warlock or a reassuring verdict the story never gives. The case may have stopped being ordinary, but has the danger actually ended?

A whisper in the library changes everything: “It’s tonight.” And the man plotting the theft is someone trusted to know the books’ worth.
Welcome to THE TRUE DETECTIVES PODCAST, your weekly home for strange clues and investigations with unexpected turns. This fictional mystery in true-crime style follows a book-loving teenager who discovers that the library’s biggest problem isn’t overdue fines. It’s an inside betrayal.
Lester Pine, a rare-books appraiser, and an accomplice are after the story’s priceless Codex. Our unnamed amateur sleuth has no badge, no backup squad and a decidedly unconventional office among forgotten paperbacks. What she does have is an eye for codes—and a library full of places to hide them.
A biography sends her to an atlas. A cookbook and a travel guide add fragments to the trail. Then she reaches the rare-books exhibit and finds shattered glass. The treasure is already gone. This is the moment a good afternoon of reading becomes an exceptionally bad afternoon for anyone hoping to leave quietly with a stolen book.
A final literary clue draws her eyes upward. On the roof, a canvas bag and a rope ladder reveal the escape in progress. She sends the thieves a message of her own, and their confident getaway turns into panic as sirens approach. The narrative stops before a police recovery is shown, leaving its young sleuth looking toward the outcome she believes is coming.
Who better to spot a thief hiding behind books than the girl everyone underestimated for loving them?

An empty space in an old photograph should not send two immaculate pairs of shoes to your front door. For Leo Davies, it is the first sign that remembering his best friend may be dangerous.
Welcome to THE TRUE DETECTIVES PODCAST, your cool weekly show for strange investigations, unexpected clues and stories that refuse to behave. The Mandela Manhunt is a fictional science-fiction mystery told in true-crime style—not evidence of real timeline editing, a real conspiracy, or a scientific explanation of the Mandela Effect.
Leo remembers Pip Masterson. The photograph, the neighborhood records and a disappearing forum thread tell a different story. When suited pursuers arrive, he follows the scraps of a city that official records seem to have forgotten: sealed service tunnels, a defunct pirate radio station, a payphone recording and the vanished Grand Electric cinema. Apparently, inconvenient old infrastructure finally has a job besides confusing the planning department.
The investigation turns remembered trivia into a desperate trail of clues. Radio Free Nowhere leads toward a rusted hatch and what Leo hopes is safety. The radio and battery tricks belong to the story’s fictional logic, not a practical electronics tutorial. The suspense comes from the contradictions: why does a supposedly demolished cinema still matter, and why do the people hunting him seem so prepared?
Then the promised refuge becomes a containment room. A screen calls Leo an anomaly. An operative who resembles Pip offers a claim more disturbing than a missing friend: perhaps the person targeted for erasure was Leo himself. Resemblance is not proof, and the operative’s explanation is not independently verified. There is no convenient rescue or reassuring answer added to the original ending.

A traveller gives you his name, his hometown, and the year he sailed away. Then his book takes you to hills guarded by ants the size of hounds. The strangest question is not where he went. It is who is speaking.Welcome to THE TRUE DETECTIVES PODCAST, your cool weekly show for weird investigations, extraordinary stories, and clues that refuse to behave. This historical INVESTIGATION follows The Travels of Sir John Mandeville through a world of literary marvels—and into the unresolved identity behind the voice. In the version examined here, the narrator introduces himself as a knight from St Albans and claims a departure in 1322. He offers routes, recollections, and an invitation for experienced readers to correct his mistakes. It sounds reassuringly personal. But a narrator’s introduction is not a passport, and a confident itinerary does not authenticate the person telling it.The investigation follows the book’s fantastic account of gold-guarding giant ants and a wonderfully elaborate harvesting trick involving mares and their foals. These are claims inside a literary narrative, not a wildlife documentary. If your gold-mining plan requires giant ants to fill the baskets for you, there may be a small problem with the business model. Then comes a detail that complicates an easy accusation: when discussing Paradise, the narrator explicitly says he has not been there and is repeating what he has heard. The book does not present every marvel as something personally witnessed. That admission matters—and makes the investigation more interesting than simply stamping every page FAKE.Textual versions and later editorial assessments add another layer. The surviving work has a history of translation, copying, and editorial intervention. A confident first-person voice can coexist with compilation and uncertain authorship. The twist is not a conveniently exposed criminal. It is the gap between the authority a story creates and the evidence needed to identify its creator. This is a literary-authenticity mystery, not a proven criminal case. No invented confession, secret murder scene, or neatly solved author reveal closes the file. Instead, the trail leaves a sharper question: when a famous journey survives more clearly than its traveller, what would actually prove who wrote it?Rate and follow THE TRUE DETECTIVES PODCAST for more strange investigations, historical mysteries, detective stories, and evidence-led surprises each week.#TheTrueDetectivesPodcast #JohnMandeville #MandevillesTravels #MedievalMystery #LiteraryMystery #HistoricalInvestigation #AuthorshipMystery #HistoryPodcast #InvestigativePodcast #MedievalLiterature #HistoricalMystery #TrueDetectives
Someone has attacked the city’s power grid. The code carries Maya Ramirez’s unmistakable signature. There is just one problem: she did not write it.
Welcome to THE TRUE DETECTIVES PODCAST—your cool weekly show for strange investigations, unexpected clues, and mysteries that refuse to behave. This fictional INVESTIGATION follows Codebreaker’s Maya Ramirez in a true-crime-style story—not a documented real crime.
Maya warned the authorities about the danger. Now the warnings have become part of a nightmare: her face is everywhere, the sirens are closing in, and the evidence points toward the person who tried to prevent the attack. Her talent has become somebody else’s perfect disguise.
In a cramped basement hideout, she stops running long enough to study the forgery. The copied style is close—but not perfect. A telltale quirk offers a narrow opening. To follow it, she must turn toward an underground network whose motives are anything but simple. Apparently being brilliant does not come with a customer-support number for identity theft.
Inside this investigation: ignored warnings, a stolen coding signature, a fugitive’s hideout, imperfect imitation, uneasy hacker alliances, and the moment fear becomes determination. The suspense stays with Maya’s choices and the clues of her story—no invented confession or magically solved case.
The twist: what once made Maya distinctive now makes her look guilty. Then an encrypted message yields a single name—Icarus. Is it a lifeline to the person behind the frame-up, or another layer of the trap? A lead is not proof. A name is not a conviction. The next keystroke could change everything, and the story leaves that decision hanging.

The tour promised a harmless shiver. The old jailhouse had a much less comfortable story to tell.
Welcome to THE TRUE DETECTIVES PODCAST, your cool weekly show for strange investigations, unexpected clues and mysteries that refuse to behave. The Unquiet Cell is a fictional detective story told in true-crime style—not a report of a real execution or evidence of an actual haunting.
Ben notices something the tourists miss: beneath the practiced ghost-story theatrics lies the fury of a man wrongfully executed. With Emily, the shaken tour guide, and Mr. Carlson, a retired history teacher, he follows a trail that leads away from supernatural spectacle and into case files and library records. Nonmatching fibers, suppressed testimony and rumors involving the well-connected challenge the comfortable version of events the town has been repeating.
The high-concept twist is that the haunting is not the investigation’s proof. The hard work belongs to research, inconvenient evidence and people willing to disturb a settled story. Forget a triumphant exorcism with a conveniently dramatic soundtrack. Clearing a name produces a reluctant plaque, a hurried ceremony and a correction that cannot return a life. Even the ghost gets a less-than-Hollywood ending.
The spirit’s fury dims, Emily’s tour changes, and the town learns to tell its favorite story with an uneasy pause. But a real apology never quite arrives. That leaves the unsettling question at the heart of this fictional case: when a community corrects its record without truly confronting what it did, has justice arrived—or has it merely acquired a commemorative sign?

An ancient voice. A modern translator. And a claim that sounded much easier to celebrate than to verify.Welcome to THE TRUE DETECTIVES PODCAST, your cool weekly show for strange investigations, unexpected clues, and the awkward moment when a wonderful story meets a difficult question. This historical INVESTIGATION follows the Ossian controversy: not a fictional murder case, but a literary-authenticity mystery with a remarkably slippery suspect—the relationship between a published poem and its claimed original. The trail begins with the confident presentation of Fragments of Ancient Poetry in 1760. Its unsigned preface assures readers of ancient authenticity and extremely close translation. By the 1762 title page of Fingal, James Macpherson appears as translator of an epic attributed to Ossian. Ancient heroes, enormous claims, and one rather important follow-up: what evidence connects the English publication to the poetry it says it preserves? The translator’s advertisement offers an answer of its own. It says a proposed subscription for publishing the originals attracted no subscribers, then promises printing or a library deposit. Those are published claims and promises—not proof that the promised evidence was subsequently supplied. A reassuring explanation and a demonstrated chain of evidence are not quite the same thing. Then comes the twist that makes this more interesting than a simple real-or-fake verdict. The Highland Society committee’s 1805 report distinguishes two questions: whether an abundant Ossianic poetic tradition existed, and how genuine Macpherson’s particular published collection was. It affirms the tradition. It also reports overlapping fragments without obtaining a whole poem matching his published works in title and tenor. The committee was inclined to believe material had been added, omitted, softened, or refined. Yet it could not determine how far those changes went. That uncertainty matters. Genuine traditional material does not automatically establish a faithful translation of an entire ancient epic; an unverified whole does not make every fragment an invention. The evidence refuses to fit neatly inside one very clickable box. This episode follows the changing claim, the demand for supporting material, and the qualified conclusion—not an invented confession, dramatic interrogation, or conveniently solved forgery trial. The lasting question is sharper: when does collecting and arranging inherited poetry become writing something new? And how much of the voice readers admired belonged to the compiler?Rate and follow THE TRUE DETECTIVES PODCAST for more weird investigations, historical mysteries, detective stories, and evidence-led surprises each week.#TheTrueDetectivesPodcast #Ossian #JamesMacpherson #Fingal #LiteraryMystery #HistoricalInvestigation #LiteraryHistory #ScottishHistory #GaelicPoetry #Authenticity #HistoryPodcast #InvestigativePodcast #TrueDetectives
A missing daughter leaves no ordinary trail—only a distorted shadow pointing toward an abandoned asylum. Detective Ethan Doyle follows it. Then the darkness at his feet starts moving without him.
Welcome to THE TRUE DETECTIVES PODCAST, your cool weekly show for strange investigations, unexpected clues, and mysteries that refuse to behave. This episode is a fictional supernatural investigation told in true-crime style—not a documented real-world crime.
While his colleagues trust flashlights and modern forensics, Doyle follows the fleeting clues hiding beyond their beams. Inside the deserted asylum, moonlight cuts through broken windows and shadows seem to shift across the peeling walls. The trail takes him into a hidden cellar, where strange symbols and a terrible discovery turn a missing-person investigation into a fight for survival.
The twist? His attacker is not a stranger lurking in the building. It is his own shadow, detached and hungry. His gun is useless. A remembered protective symbol offers a fragile barrier, but dawn—not an arrest—is the only escape in sight. Apparently even your silhouette can become a workplace hazard.
In this investigation: Doyle’s unconventional tracking method; the mother’s desperate plea; the asylum’s fractured shadow trail; the cellar encounter; and the grim aftermath that changes what it means to be a detective. No miraculous rescue. No neatly identified culprit. Just a man who learns that surviving the night is not the same as ending the hunt.
When daylight returns, Doyle makes it back to the precinct. But the shadows at the edges of his vision are still there. Has he escaped the nightmare—or simply carried its attention home?
