Take responsibility for your spiritual advantages and your sinful failures, knowing that God would be right to condemn you as a sinner without Christ.

It’s possible to have all the advantages of a godly family, biblical training, and religious ceremonies, and to still be a lost hypocrite who is not right with God. This is what Paul warns of in Romans 2, and our students need to consider this for themselves.

Admit you have no defense before God's judgment because you know better than you live and he knows every secret.

God is a righteous and impartial judge who will judge people based on their works. It’s impossible to really be good without the transforming power of the gospel and on our own we are all deserving of God’s righteous judgment.

In light of God’s piercing judgment and patient kindness, rethink your own goodness and turn from your sin to God instead of ignoring or excusing it.

When people insist on fulfilling their sinful lust, God lets people have their sin and the consequences of their sin. We need to call on God and plead for his forgiveness and cleansing from our sin!

Paul is not ashamed to proclaim the gospel and to be associated with the gospel message because it is the power of God to eternally save people who put their faith in God. We have no good reason to be ashamed of this powerful message.

Paul demonstrates Christian love to the Roman Christians that he has not yet met, and we can learn from his prayer, encouragement, and evangelism.

Paul begins his letter about the gospel with an introduction to God’s gospel message. We will study the book of Romans in depth for the rest of the school year over the course of 30 sermons.

Unchecked covetousness is the fuel for unchecked sin. We all need to check our hearts and repent of any covetousness.
