TrulyYourVA with Janis “broadcasted” on Clubhouse today in my Club, The Podcast Forum. I created The Morning Brief for the purpose of sharing small tidbits that I love to share about podcasting which can also be used even if you are not podcasting! Today I chatted about the importance of having a morning routine. We all know that having a baseline of our day helps keep us on task and in control of our calendar. We should run our day - not the other way around!
Routines are a fast way to make sure that our tasks and goals are met and if for some reason your day goes haywire as life does happen in ways we did not expect, then we have a guide or template as to what we still need or want to accomplish.
Let me know what you thought of today’s chat on Clubhouse - How are you with your morning routines? Do you have any morning routines? What has worked and/or what has not worked for you? Let me know - click the link below.

TrulyYourVA with Janis welcomed to today’s podcast, Ellyse Colson. Ellyse is a Business Coach and the Owner / CEO of The Sustainable Business Collective. She coaches freelancing women to create consistent $5k months while only working 20 hours a week.
Her story of course is very unique! When she was a little girl, she dreamed of helping people; she was not sure how, but later in life, she found a way. She became a teacher and initially loved her job. She enjoyed the administrative aspect of being a teacher and assisting with school admin type of roles but something was amiss.
She recalls watching a webinar on freelancing and she thought, what if I can create a business where I can be present with my children, replace my 9 - 5 income and only work 20 hours per week? That was her goal and she attained it!
It is not something that happened overnight and she worked diligently to make it happen. She became a Virtual Assistant but 18 months into her journey she lost ⅔ of her client base! She knew at this point that she had to pivot in such a way that would be sustainable in order to meet her time and financial freedom.
As she worked toward her goal of a sustainable business, she realized that she loved the “coaching” aspect of her business and became a supportive Business Coach to other VA’s and on-line business owners! Ellyse loves supporting her clients!
As a business coach she is able to continue with her “teaching” as she coaches freelancing women to create consistent $5k months while only working 20 hours a week.
“I started in this online space 4 years ago as a VA, niched down into content repurposing, and then transitioned into coaching!”
Ellyse has not only transitioned her business life, she has gained the time and financial freedom that many entrepreneurs work toward. It can be done with a lot of hard work and the perseverance of stepping over your fear and owning what you love to do! Claim it, own it and when you need to, take an audit of your time and energy - make sure you are supporting your dreams!

TrulyYourVA with Janis welcomed to today’s podcast, Richard Blank. Richard has been the Chief Executive Officer for Costa Rica’s Call Center “CCC” since 2008. He has the largest collection of restored American Pinball machines and antique Rockola Jukeboxes in Central America making gamification a strong part of CCC culture. (Yes; we chatted about dessert first!)
The “CCC” is a state of the art BPO telemarketing outsource company located in the capital city of San Jose, Costa Rica. The company’s main focus has been, and will always be to personally train each and every Central America call center agent so that they are able to offer the highest quality of outbound and inbound telemarketing solutions and bilingual customer service to small and medium sized international companies, entrepreneurs as well as fortune 500 companies.
His journey in the call center space is filled with twists and turns. When he was 27 years old, he relocated to Costa Rica to train employees for one of the larger call centers. With a mix of motivational public speaking style backed by tactful and appropriate rhetoric, Richard shared (and continues to share) his knowledge and has trained over 10k bilingual telemarketers.

TrulyYourVA with Janis welcomed to today’s podcast, Ambila Nath. Ambila is known by her clients as ‘The Girl Next Door of Spirituality’. She is a serial entrepreneur, certified coach, spiritual teacher, international speaker and an avid follower of her passions.
With a corporate background in management consulting, Ambila is far from your stereotypical Spiritual Coach. She went from a 6 figure corporate job to having a spiritual business. She has worked with clients spanning over 4 continents and she knows that the greatest journey you can take is the one to build a relationship with yourself.
She helps you to fall in love with your business again by aligning your energy, shifting your mindset and creating positive daily habits to grow your business
As some of us often do, we go along with the “generic” process of going to college and establishing ourselves in a career. For Ambila, it was in the corporate world. She realized at some point, what would her next chapter be . . .
From an interior design business, events business and tarot cards, she realized that she loved the “spirituality” aspect of what she was doing. She wanted more; she wanted to help people, that was her mission.
She wrote down the skills she was good at (which are many!) and hired a coach. Part of her 3-year journey of connecting with people, Ambila realized that her spirituality was a major force in how and why she loved connecting with people. Ambila stated that it’s important to “listen” to people verbally and aesthetically - “Find out what your clients want.”
Ambila shared that the key to manifesting a successful business & life. . . is knowing who you are! As she stated: “Life isn't complicated - we are!”

TrulyYourVA with Janis welcomed to today’s podcast, Sarah Ankney. Sarah is a specialized Pinterest and Social Media Manager. She has been working in this field for over 3 years after discovering the benefits of utilizing Pinterest marketing her business. With her strategy, her clients have seen their businesses grow!
Sarah initially used Pinterest when she was with a direct sales company and learned the benefits of using Pinterest. She also explained what Pinterest is and what it is not. Pinterest is a search engine where you can engage with potential clients by providing valuable content. Pinterest is NOT a place to spam your potential customers.
Sarah also explained how to set up your free Pinterest account and recommends setting it up as a business account. You are allowed up to 500 words on your bio (choose wisely as those 500 words go quickly!) She also explained the good use of SEO - search engine optimization. Example, if you are a life coach, using words that come with being a life coach will direct potential clients to you; if you are a podcast host (such as myself; I currently host (3) podcasts) - have a board for each podcast.
It is also a good practice to follow people in your similar field and repost their pins on your page (do not hijack their post and use it as your own; rather share valuable content with your followers in a business-like manner.)
Sarah has a very clear, concise and catchy way of working with her clients. (She goes into great detail!) While Pinterest may be just the solution you need to grow your business, Sarah stated that Pinterest is a long-haul type of process and usually takes about 6 - 12 months to reap the benefits of consistent strategic posting.
Sarah is not only “Sassy” (as she puts it) but is fully invested in her clients’ success. It’s time to get “pinning” with Ms. Sassy herself!

TrulyYourVA with Janis welcomed to today’s podcast, Anjum Bhandari. Anjum is a social media / digital marketing agency. She supports her clients with the leverage and power of social media to help them grow and make their mark in the digital world. (She has guided over 30+ businesses!)
Anjum shared that with social media, you first need to know for yourself, how do you want your clients to perceive you (how do you perceive yourself), how to use it and how to repurpose that content. Also, what social media platform should you use? That depends on where of course your ideal client hangs out. For Anjum, she loves Instagram.
What Anjum pointed out is that it is so important to show up, even if there is a fear, but to start out doing it in a way that feels comfortable to you. For instance, she initially had a fear of being on camera. She stepped out of her comfort zone and took small steps. When you take those small steps, you make progress!
Anjum used to work in the corporate arena but decided that after a while, she realized that she wanted much more freedom on her own and on her own terms!

TruyYourVA with Janis welcomed to today’s podcast, Aubrey McShan. (After a tech issue with Zoom, we could not go live on the TrulyYourVA Facebook page.)
Aubrey is an intentional introvert! She is a blogger at The Copy Sloth and Email & Blog Copywriter on a mission to help other intentional introverts market and grow their businesses.
Her business, like many others, started in the midst and height of the pandemic in 2020. After losing her job, she started her on-line entrepreneurship. She freely states that she made many mistakes along the way but with those mistakes made, she has been able to coach others to do the same.
Aubrey shared her recommendations and insights with different social media platforms. You will typically find Aubrey on Twitter and Pinterest. She also shared with us how Instagram is changing from a “picture” type of posting platform to more of a video, reels platform.
Aubrey suggested that whatever niche you want to be in, find people who also do the similar type of things that you want to do. Break it down and write out, what do you like about how this person presents their business. What can you do differently to use your “voice” and “branding”?
We also chatted in-depth about branding and what that means to your business. Aubrey stressed that “branding” may come with time and will change from time-to-time. She urged to get your business up and running and not to spend absorbent amounts of money on websites or different software that may delay you in starting your business. (Most software applications you can potentially use have a “free version”)
Aubrey also shared some valuable information on editing vs copywriting and why each is an integrable part of writing in your business. In Aubrey’s words: “Let's get your sloppy copy to savvy content that sells.”
I can’t thank Aubrey enough for being on today’s podcast - I can’t wait to have her back on as my guest!
