Bryan Fischer here with today’s Life and Liberty Minute. The number of representatives in Congress each state has is determined by its population of citizens and legal residents. The president is determined to exclude illegals aliens from being added to the count for purposes of representation, and he is right to do so. The Constitution restricts apportionment to those who are legal inhabitants of the United States. Illegal aliens aren’t. If they are counted, it rewards states like California who actively protect illegal aliens and it gives them an unfair advantage in Congress over states who play by the rules. If illegals are counted, some states will actually have representatives taken away from them and given to states who break the law by welcoming illegal aliens. And that’s why regressives are so eager to count them. Let’s stick to the Constitution.
