In response to a shooting in Washington D.C. that left one National Guard member dead and another critically injured, President Donald Trump has intensified his anti-immigration rhetoric and announced a series of strict immigration crackdowns. The suspect in the attack was identified as an Afghan national who entered the U.S. in 2021 under the Biden-era Operation Allies Welcome program.
