My hope has been for the content of these podcasts to be Trustworthy, edifying to you and pleasing to the Lord. and I feel I needed to apologize. 

In a previous episode with Dr. Dave Currie called “Marriage Matters”…I misspoke…When I shared that some of our former youth had commented “At their weddings” about our marriage/conflict resolution this was not true. While these comments may have been made in other conversations they were not made at their weddings. I apologize.

I have followed Ken and Michelle’s ministry since the day that I went to work with a team from Millar College of the Bible. We were tasked with the cleanup of an old building in Regina which  would become the home of a mission providing hope and healing for the hurting in inner city Regina. Ken and Michelle have been working with the hurting, homeless and addicted on the fringes of our society for over 3 decades. Ken has recently written a book called “Soul’s Harbour” documenting their time in rescue work in Winnipeg, Prince George, Regina, and now presently in Halifax. Theirs is a story of faith, obedience/willingness, courage and the faithfulness of God’s care for both the lost sheep and His faithful servants...It is the story of the gospel. 

"Soul's Harbour" is available from Chapters and Indigo and is a great encouragement reminding us of a God who continues to seek and save the Lost. 

Some of us have had great examples of lasting and vibrant marriages. Others are struggling to find a person in their life who even speaks positively of marriage. Marriage is under attack and some of the damage is self inflicted. How can we protect and grow our marriages and provide the next generation with godly examples to follow - marriages which exemplify humility, joy, and strength and the gospel.

An article by Paul Carter for the Gospel Coalition with the title of this episode sparked a timely discussion for pastors and church leaders as they navigate their current Covid-19 restrictions. While some churches choose to follow very closely the directive to " Submit to the governing authorities" others feel this is a time to "Obey God rather than man". While we try to navigate these decisions there remains the necessity of continuing to shepherd the people God. This time seems full of potential pitfalls and polarizing issues. Have you  watched the Netflix documentary "The Social Dilemma"? Within this documentary I think it engaged an important discussion around a topic that is almost impossible to escape from today, our involvement in and the influence of Social media. This is frankly a discussion that is long overdue. More specifically, how is social media affecting the faith formation or destruction of people? Are there things worth redeeming in Social media? 
Through his work with "Truth Matters" Sid Koop has poured a massive amount of energy into training and equipping youth workers to engage young people in the transforming gospel. I hope you are encouraged and challenged to think seriously about both the positive and negative implications Social media may be having on you, your children and those in you r congregations and communities. 

Have you ever felt like you have plateaued and wondered "Do I move on or stay?" Dennis and I take some time to talk the importance of continuing to grow and develop in ministry. Whether this means formal education, mentoring, or even some introspection it is pressing that we continue to grow, shoring up weaker areas of our ministry and character rather than running from them. 

In Canada, Hockey culture directly affects the church....and the church ought to impact our Hockey culture. What responsibility does the church have to support/encourage and disciple hockey families to not just exist but thrive and have an impact on the hockey world they are engaged in. 
Kim serves as lead pastor of Waldheim MB church in Waldheim Saskatchewan, as well as chaplain with Hockey Ministries International  (HMI) for the Saskatoon Blades (WHL) and with the new AAA Franchise in Warman Sk. Kim and Barb have a love for the church, their hockey world and their community, and have lived the hockey life with their son Alex. 
The aim of this episode is to encourage the church to think seriously about the mission field that is in our communities, to engage and not just shrug off those parents who seem to be absent whenever hockey season roles around, and to take seriously the importance of equipping these young people and families to be a Godly witness in a very dark arena.
