A law passed by the California General Assembly in 2013 says
"Disclosing a student is transgender without the students permission may violate California's anti-discrimination law by increasing the student's vulnerability to harassment and may violate the student's right to privacy. Attorney Paul Johnna said while students have some right to privacy, those rights do not supersede parental rights or the first amendment right of the free expression of religion.
