  • An All-Nighter in Troas
    1. A Lengthy Sermon on the Lord's Day 2. A Young Man Raised from the Dead 3. A Church Feasting on Truth This sermon examines the narrative of Paul's extended preaching and the resurrection of Eutychus in Troas, highlighting the significance of gathering on the first day of the week for worship. The text argues that Paul's lengthy sermon was an exceptional circumstance driven by his impending departure, rather than a norm for all preaching, emphasizing the need for wisdom in determining the manner and length of teaching. The incident of Eutychus falling asleep serves as a vivid illustration of human limitation and the necessity of heart examination, while also demonstrating God's mercy toward human weakness. The resurrection of the young man is presented as a tangible illustration of the spiritual life transferred from Christ to believers through the gospel. Finally, the congregation's desire to continue discussing the word until dawn underscores the vital importance of a fervent, consistent hunger for God's truth within the church community.

  • Evil Returned upon our Head
This sermon examines the narrative of Nabal and Abigail in 1 Samuel 25, contrasting the husband's stubbornness and evil deeds with his wife's wisdom and understanding. The preacher highlights how Nabal's harshness mirrors the stiff-necked behavior of Israel described in Judges, serving as a warning against suppressing known truth and acting in self-righteous vengeance. In response to Nabal's insult, David prepares for retribution, but Abigail intervenes with humility and provision, successfully averting bloodshed and demonstrating the power of wise counsel. The passage concludes with the Lord striking Nabal, illustrating that divine judgment is certain and operates on God's timing rather than human initiative. Ultimately, the sermon points to Christ as the greater David who endured revilement without retaliation, encouraging believers to trust in God's justice and avoid taking vengeance into their own hands.

  • Afraid of The People
The religious health of the nation of Israel was in bad shape during the life of Christ on the earth. He taught the truth. He exposed the lies of the false teachers. However, the people loved the false teachers more than God. Now the false teachers were at the place where they wanted to kill Jesus. However, they feared the people. They needed to figure out how to kill Jesus and still keep the people on their side.

  • WHY TWELVE STONES?
WHY TWELVE STONES? "When God Put a Nation into a Memorial" Joshua 4:1–9, 19–24 KJV Why did God command Joshua to take exactly twelve stones from the Jordan River? Why not seven, ten, or twenty? Because those twelve stones carried a message greater than the stones themselves! When Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground, God commanded twelve men, one from each tribe, to carry a stone from the riverbed and establish a memorial at Gilgal. Those stones would remind future generations of God's mighty power, His covenant faithfulness, and His miraculous deliverance. In this Sunday School lesson, we trace the significance of the twelve tribes throughout Scripture—from the sons of Jacob to the twelve pillars at Sinai, Elijah's restored altar, the twelve apostles, and the New Jerusalem. We discover that God was not merely preserving the memory of a miracle—He was teaching an entire nation never to forget the God who brought them through! The twelve stones remind us that God remembers His promises, preserves His testimony, and calls His people to pass the truth of His mighty works to the next generation.

  • (18) Prepare for Christ the Judge
Christ is "coming again to judge the living and the dead." That is one of the basic truths believers confess. So important is the final judgment that the Bible devotes almost an entire book to that theme. Revelation reveals the closing chapters of the great drama of human history—the conflict between the offspring of the serpent and the offspring of the woman. In the judgment God will affirm his love to his dear children. But upon those who reject him and have sided with Satan will be judged. The seven bowls of God's wrath are Scriptures most intense portrayal of God's judgment. Whatever we feel about the judgment, it is coming. But we ought to feel something about the judgment. More than that, we ought to respond with godly zeal to the warnings God gives about the judgment. In Revelation, the Lord previews for his church "the things that must soon take place" to encourage them as they endure tribulation (Rev. 1:9).
