  • How to Be a Great Thinker - 2 Peter 3:1-3
What would it take to become a truly great thinker—not by the world's standards, but by God's? In 2 Peter 3, the apostle writes with deep affection to stir something in you—a way of thinking that will protect you from being deceived and draw you into deeper and deeper closeness with God. This sermon on 2 Peter 3:1–3 explores what it means to develop a mind governed by Scripture rather than by the desires of the flesh. Peter calls believers to "pure thinking"—not merely thinking about pure subjects, but learning to think, reason, evaluate, and make decisions according to God's truth. The world often measures thinking by IQ, education, creativity, logic, knowledge, or the ability to solve complex problems. But God's definition of great thinking is different. According to Peter, the greatest thinkers are those whose minds are directed by the Word of God. Your thoughts are constantly moving from one idea to another. The crucial question is: **What is steering the progression of your thoughts?** Are your thoughts being directed by Scripture and the will of God, or are they being driven by your desires? In this message, we examine the difference between flesh-driven thinking and Scripture-driven thinking, and we consider how our desires can influence the conclusions we are willing to accept. Peter warns that false teachers and scoffers follow their own evil desires, eventually using their desires to reject the truth of Christ's return, final judgment, and the authority of God's Word. ## In This Sermon - What Peter means by "pure thinking" in 2 Peter 3:1. - The meaning and importance of the Greek word *dianoia*, referring to the mind, understanding, or way of thinking.

What if you realized the truth about eternity—but only after it was too late? 😢 In Luke 16:19–31, Jesus tells the sobering account of the rich man and Lazarus. The rich man found himself in torment, crying, "Father Abraham, have mercy on me." This powerful passage reveals the seriousness of eternity, hell, repentance, salvation, and the urgency of hearing God's Word. The rich man wanted his family warned—but Abraham reminded him that they already had "Moses and the prophets." ⚠️ The message is clear: we must listen to God's Word and respond while we still have time. • The Marks of a Faithful Church: How to Recognize a Biblical Church
How can Christians recognize a faithful church in a time when popularity, personalities, programs, and production often shape how churches are evaluated? In this episode of Equipping You in Grace, Dave Jenkins explains the biblical marks of a true church: faithful preaching of God's Word, the right administration of baptism and the Lord's Supper, loving church discipline, qualified biblical leadership, and meaningful commitment within the local body. Christians are not called to find a perfect church. We are called to seek a faithful church where Christ is exalted, the gospel is proclaimed, Scripture is the final authority, and God's people are equipped to grow together in grace and truth. This episode continues the September series, "Home: The Church, the Gospel, and the Grace That Brings You Back." • Numbers—In The Wilderness
NUMBERS—IN THE WILDERNESS This message introduces the book of Numbers as more than a record of censuses and wilderness travel; it is a testimony to the faithfulness of God and the danger of unbelief. The Hebrew title, "In the Wilderness," captures the heart of the book as Israel moves from one generation numbered at Sinai to another generation numbered near the Promised Land. Between those two censuses, an unbelieving generation dies in the wilderness while Joshua and Caleb are preserved because they trusted the Lord. The great lesson is that people may fail God, but God will never fail His purpose or His promise. Using Romans 15, 1 Corinthians 10, John 5, 1 Peter 1, Jude, and Hebrews, the message explains that the events of Numbers were preserved for the learning, warning, comfort, and hope of Newer Testament believers. Israel becomes a series of spiritual case studies showing what happens when people obey, rebel, complain, lust, doubt, or trust God. Their wilderness experience teaches that outward deliverance is not the same as inward salvation, that proximity to the things of God does not equal faith in God, and that true rest is ultimately found not in a land but in Jesus. The message also emphasizes that God orders His people around His presence, assigns different responsibilities within the body, and expects holy things to be handled according to His revealed Word rather than human convenience or good intentions. The Levites, the tabernacle, the firstborn, the ark, the cloud, and the promised inheritance all contribute to the unfolding revelation that points toward Jesus—the Redeemer, Mediator, Rock, and true Rest of His people…
