  • The Stirring of God
The Stirring of God This message from Haggai 1 centers on the danger of allowing fear, opposition, comfort, and self-focus to replace obedience to God's assignment. Judah had been delivered from Babylon, restored to Jerusalem, given resources, authority, and a clear mandate to rebuild the temple. But when opposition came, they stopped the work and gradually turned their attention toward their own houses, possessions, and comfort. The unfinished temple became a picture of neglected kingdom priorities. God responded through Haggai with the repeated command, "Consider your ways." The people were sowing much but harvesting little, earning wages but never seeming to have enough, and working hard without satisfaction. God explained that their barrenness was not accidental; He was using their circumstances to expose that their priorities had become disordered. The message emphasizes that hardship does not always mean someone is out of fellowship with God, but every believer should regularly examine his or her ways before the Lord and ask whether fear, distraction, or self-interest has displaced what God has clearly given them to do. The turning point came when Zerubbabel, Joshua, and the remnant obeyed the voice of the Lord. Once they returned to the work, God gave them one of the most powerful assurances in the book: "I am with you." The message stresses that their greatest problem was not their past failure but their present commitment. They did not have to recover fifteen wasted years before obeying; they simply needed to turn and respond to God now. The sermon connects this truth with Elisha in 2 Kings 3, Gideon in Judges 6, and Joshua. In each example, God gave people a

  • The Mark of a True Believer
Without a doubt-this parable should be the most applied scripture into the heart of every pastor who stands in pulpits across America today bringing God Word to thousands weekly. Perhaps we would see less false conversions and no manipulation used to get the numbers up in their news announcements. Because this passage explains to believers the true response of hearts to the Gospel of Jesus Christ . Perhaps we as believers need to understand that only God can plow a heart , it is not a natural thing to love God and that is exactly what God does to a heart, changing a heart of hate to a heart that loves God and truly want to worship Him.

  • #11 WCF 3:1 Of God’s Eternal Decree
This episode explores the doctrine of God's eternal decree as outlined in the Westminster Confession of Faith, emphasizing that God sovereignly ordains all events from eternity past. The episode highlights God's immutability and simplicity, asserting that His will is free, unchangeable, and infinitely wise, thereby establishing a secure foundation for the believer's salvation. While affirming divine sovereignty, the text clarifies that God is not the author of sin and does not violate human responsibility or secondary causes. The speaker urges listeners to approach these profound theological truths with humility and awe rather than attempting to dissect them intellectually or use them as excuses for unbelief. Ultimately, understanding God's absolute control over history drives believers toward comfort in their faith and deepens their worship of the Almighty.

  • Intimate Knowledge of the Holy Spirit (sermon 2074)
One of the enduring elements of Spurgeon's public ministry, reflective of his private life, is his delight in and dependence on the Holy Spirit. He mentions him often, prays to him regularly, delights in him personally, and depends on him resolutely. He is a good guide for us, then, concerning intimate knowledge of the Holy Spirit. As often, Spurgeon is not afraid of his own experience, but his starting point and guiding principle is the Word of God, as he considers what it is to have the Holy Spirit dwelling with us and in us. I think that the personality and operations of the Holy Spirit is a fairly significant weak point in modern Reformed evangelicalism, perhaps because of an over-reaction to Charismatic excess, but I also wonder if we have downplayed his presence and influence because we do not know him very well. Whatever the case, Spurgeon is corrective and instructive as he guides us through the truth of John 14:17, helping us to understand who we know, and how, and what it means to have this intimacy with the Third Person of the Godhead. As one who needs him, and wants him more than I have him, I hope it will be a blessing to you.

  • The Gospel Way Catechism | Question 3 - Who Does God Reveal Himself to Be?
Question 3 of the Gospel Way Catechism: Who does God reveal himself to be? The answer: He is the Lord, the great I AM, one God in three persons: Father, Son, and Spirit. He is the Creator and Ruler of all that is, seen and unseen. In this episode, we explore the identity of the one true God and what it means that he has revealed himself as Father, Son, and Spirit. We discuss how the Christian understanding of God stands in contrast to a world that often views life as meaningless or encourages us to create our own truth and purpose. Because God is our Creator and Ruler, our lives have lasting meaning, purpose, and security in him.

  • Spiritual Roadblocks
The sermon identifies spiritual roadblocks that prevent believers from experiencing God's abundant goodness, specifically focusing on false dependency on feelings and failed discernment. Drawing from Isaiah 59, the speaker explains how iniquity separates humanity from God and how relying on emotional security rather than faith leads to stumbling. The message emphasizes the necessity of self-judgment and acknowledging personal sin to remove obstacles that block divine mercy. By contrasting Israel's historical failure with the Christian call to walk in truth, the text urges listeners to reject worldly drama and embrace spiritual reality. Ultimately, accepting the hard truths of one's condition allows God's equity and grace to enter and restore fellowship.
