  • As We Have Heard, So Have We Seen
The stones of the temple at Jerusalem were thrown down in 70 AD. The towers and bulwarks of Zion that God commands us to walk about and count are found now in the Word of God. The kings saw the city of God, "marvelled," and "hasted away" (Psalm 48:5). If we have not heard the Word of God, we cannot see. We do not even know what to look for. A Christian who prays for the salvation of his children is to open the Word of God and walk about Zion, "that ye may tell it to the generation following." (Psalm 48:13)

  • Are You Truly Free? Do Not Be Conformed to the World
Are you truly free—or have you simply become a slave to your desires? In 1 Peter 1:13–16, the Apostle Peter calls Christians to stop living according to the passions of their former ignorance and instead pursue holiness as those who have been called by a holy God. In this sermon, we examine what it means to be conformed to the world rather than transformed by the truth of God's Word. Our culture tells us to follow our hearts, define our own truth, live for ourselves, and call that freedom. Peter gives us a radically different message: true freedom is found in Jesus Christ. This message explores: • Why Christians must not return to their former way of life • How ignorance of God and our sinful nature shapes our desires • Why sin promises freedom but produces slavery • How the world, culture, entertainment, relationships, and our own desires can disciple us • Why Christians are called to holiness • What it means to bring our desires under the authority of Jesus Christ • Why knowing God is essential to understanding ourselves If you're looking for **biblical preaching, expository preaching, Reformed theology, and a deeper understanding of Scripture**, we invite you to listen and consider what God's Word says about true freedom, holiness, sin, and salvation. **Scripture:** 1 Peter 1:13–16 **Also referenced:** Ephesians 2:1–3; Mark 7:20–23; 1 Peter 2:11; 1 Peter 4:2; Luke 21:34–36; John 8:12 📍 Cornerstone Presbyterian Church — Branford, Connecticut Serving New Haven County with Christ-centered, expository preaching and Reformed biblical teaching.

  • All About Scripture 8: The NT Apocrypha & Gnostic Gospels
This lesson examines the literary landscape of the early church to reinforce confidence in the New Testament canon by distinguishing it from Gnostic and apocryphal writings in the early church. It defines Gnosticism as a radical spirit-matter dualism that denies the humanity of Jesus and the goodness of creation, contrasting these heretical views with the orthodox rule of faith upheld by the early church fathers. The discussion categorizes early Christian literature into canonical, edifying, and apocryphal texts, noting that while some non-canonical writings like the Didache and Epistle of Diognetus are valuable for historical insight, they were never considered Scripture. The lesson highlights how the early church actively combated forgery and heresy, ensuring that the four canonical Gospels remained the authoritative witness to Christ's life, death, and resurrection. By analyzing specific examples such as the Gospel of Thomas and the Acts of John, the message demonstrates that these alternative texts are fundamentally incompatible with biblical truth and serve as a testament to the clarity and reliability of the inspired Scriptures.

  • Who's The Judge
This sermon examines the theme of hypocrisy in Romans 2, challenging the self-righteous mindset that judges others while harboring similar sins. By contrasting the Pharisee and the tax collector in Luke 18, the message illustrates that God's judgment is based on objective truth rather than outward religious appearances or moral superiority. The text emphasizes that God's patience and kindness are intended to lead individuals to repentance, a gift granted by the Holy Spirit that replaces a heart of stone with a heart of flesh. While unrepentant hardness stores up wrath, the sermon concludes with the assurance of salvation through Christ's mercy, affirming that justification comes solely by grace and not by human works.

  • Romans 1
The sermon centers on the apostle Paul's declaration in Romans that he is not ashamed of the gospel, identifying three key responsibilities for believers: awareness of their debt to share the message, the willingness to avail themselves for evangelism, and the boldness to proclaim Christ without fear. The speaker illustrates these points with personal testimony from Grenada, including a confrontation with a revolutionary armed with a gun, which ultimately led to the man's conversion. The message emphasizes that the gospel is the power of God unto salvation, achieved solely through grace and the finished work of Christ on the cross, rather than human works. The tone is encouraging and convicting, urging the congregation to overcome silence and actively share the truth of Jesus Christ in their daily lives.
