  • TSC Talks! Janna Champagne, RN, BSN on Autism, Cannabis & Autism Safe Haven
TSC Talks was honored to host Janna Champagne, RN, BSN, as a guest for the second time.
    From https://jannachampagne.com:
"Janna's introduction to the cannabis industry began as a cannabis patient who happens to be a nurse, when she suffered a debilitating immune health collapse in 2012.
Janna credits cannabis for helping to reduce her reliance on harmful pharmaceuticals, and for supporting her ability to regain optimal health status against all odds.
Janna is also known for her daughter's cannabis/Autism success story, which published on the cover story in a nationwide industry magazine in 2017

Nurse Janna has educated thousands of patients, helping them optimize their cannabis therapy outcomes through an individualized and well-informed approach. Janna has gained extensive clinical application knowledge through her work, including individual considerations of cannabis therapy, and which products might best fit a patient's situation. This also lends to her current expertise in educating nurses/medical professionals about cannabis, formulating symptom-targeted products, and ensuring patient's find optimal medical cannabis formulations.

Following patient needs has led Nurse Janna to fulfill diverse cannabis industry roles:

Graduate Faculty - John Patrick University
    Founder Nonprofit Autism Safe Haven
    Education-Patients, Medical Professionals, Industry Staff
    Symptom Targeted/Medical Cannabis Formulating
    Research Review/Written Content Author
Prominent Cannabis Advocate, Presenter, and Public Speaker/Interviewee
Volunteer Roles: Subcommittee Member, Oregon Cannabis Commission. Founding Member, Oregon Cannabis Clinician's Group"

From the transcript: "So I'm a cannabis nurse full time. And I have come into this industry as a patient, I have benefited greatly from cannabis as medicine, as has my daughter. Our stories are very widely available. If you want more detail on that. And just by following patient needs, I progressed from a patient to a grower to helping patients to now I'm beginning to educate medical professionals about cannabis. And another project I'm working on is is improving the accessibility of cannabis inclusive autism care resources. My daughter is you know, with her autism, and she's 18 years of age and, you know, ready to move on in life. And there really are no resources. So I'm building this for her and for other children that rely on cannabis for their quality of life and is their medicine and to allow them access to their chosen medicine, you know, while also receiving the care that they require. So that's that's really the purpose of autism safe haven."

  • TSC Talks! Cannabis Nurse~Carey Lee Leuer, R.N., "Feeding My Soul"
TSC Talks had a fantastic chat with Cannabis Nurse, Carey Lee Leuer, R.N. recently. Carey Lee is a Registered Nurse, Iowa Green Nurse and Cannabis Nurse Consultant- Integrative Health, Geriatric’s, Mental Health. Here's some further info, snippets from transcript and time stamps.

    From https://thegreennurse.com/cannabis_nurses/carey-lee-leuer/"
"Nurse Carey Lee wasn’t always a nurse. Her first career spanning over 15 years was in mortgage finance. Although successful, finance did not ignite the fire in her belly like nursing would. 20+ years after high school, marriage, three boys, and a dog named Cooper she took a leap of faith and went back to school to get her nursing degree. Her clinical experience ranges from emergency medicine, skilled nursing in LTAC, geriatric behavioral health & dementia, restorative nursing, and now her primary practice is holistic integrative nursing. “Nursing is my second career but my first love.”

Nurse Carey Lee also brings her perspective as a patient to the table. She has battled her own emotional health and has experienced incorrect diagnoses and pharmaceutical trauma. This led her on a journey to find ways of healing other than Western medicine’s first line of treatment-pharmaceuticals. She quickly discovered that getting back to the basics of self-care would become the foundation of healing & maintaining optimal health of mind, body, & spirit. She is passionate about educating patients of various healing modalities and showing them how to THRIVE by implementing a customized self-care plan she lovingly refers to as her Daily Five to Thrive. This self-care plan incorporates the basics: sleep hygiene, nutrition, functional exercise, sunshine, and mindfulness.

“Cannabis is one tool we can use to heal & maintain the health of our body, mind, and spirit.” Her own endocannabinoid system was depleted from all of the years of chronic stress that comes with complex post traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD) and seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Thanks to medical cannabis and her daily five to thrive, her endocannabinoid system was replenished. She discovered that medical cannabis was the only way she found relief of the nightmares & terrors experienced most of her life. She also found relief from the chronic pain she battles thanks to Cervical Spondylotic Myelopathy. The plant has also allowed Nurse Carey Lee to open up to explore and discover other healing modalities from Eastern medicine, mycology, reiki, energy healing, and holistic psychology."

    From the transcript:
"I've been a registered nurse for three years, a little over three years now. My first career was in mortgage finance completely. You think it would be the opposite? And I did that for about 15 years, everything from like processing, underwriting sales, ended with the bank, owned my own mortgage brokerage firm with my sister and my husband. Wow. Yeah, VIP mortgage group. We ran it out of Elgin, Illinois. And I pretty much ran operations. I handled every aspect of operations and you can be really good at something and hate it. Yeah. And that was me. I it was not fulfilling to me it was it did not tickle my fancy in the slightest. I was miserable. And what made you get into it in the first place? I just kind of fell it fell into it. I actually had left and moved down to Florida after high school in the in the early 90s. And when I came back home to the burbs of Chicago, my sister's still there. She was just got into the mortgage business herself. Hmm. And so I was crashing at her pad. And she was just like, Hey, you want to come in and check it out? And so I did. And, you know, it just it found me It fell in my lap. And I went with it, you know, so I had a great career, I earned a lovely income and met, plus lots of great life experiences. But like I said, it just wasn't it wasn't feeding your soul. It wasn't feeding my soul."

How she found green nursing (12:06)
Regular cannabis user and feeling the stigma (13:42)

  • TSC Talks! Allison Chapman, Legislative Director~Health Choice 4 Action MA "Pharma Safety, Exemptions & Mandates"
In this episode, TSC Talks had the honor and pleasure of speaking with Allison Chapman, Legislative Director~Health Choice 4 Action MA. I met Allison through a Facebook Group called, "FLU YOU BAKER CLASS ACTION", formed to "stay connected, informed & share ideas/information regarding the opposition to the MA DPH Flu Vaccine mandate". We started off hearing about Allison's personal connection to these issues, having 3 children, all of whom suffered significant side effects from vaccines, one of whom is permanently disabled.

I'm the Legislative Director for health choice for action, Massachusetts, and it's an all volunteer organization, it's not paid. I think a lot of people misinterpret that. But the reason you do it is to make sure that your children and your family members, that may be a little different than others have provided, continue to be able to access the community, and opportunities as everyone else's creation and jobs and all of these things, we want to make sure that everyone has access to when people are not being denied on the basis of their underlying medical issues, or their religious beliefs, or whatever it is, because we're in Massachusetts, we have all these wonderful laws that don't allow discrimination. And unfortunately, there's still some discrimination. So I help with other moms like myself, and I've been doing it for about 15 years. Wow, I've been injury advocate. So a lot longer than I was doing anything else. But that's what I've done for the last about 15 years. But health choice for actions just for a year, a few other organizations in Massachusetts has been for the last four years. So, you know, I've been doing it a long time, but it's with different organizations.

Allison Chapman is not an anti-vaxxer. She is, however, a firm believer in vaccine injury having watched all three of her children and her mother suffer significant effects from vaccinations. Allison is the Legislative Director for Health Choice for Action, Massachusetts and has been active with other organizations concerned with vaccine injury. Allison describes her journey and what happened to people she loved when they followed medical advice.

The first vaccine and reaction (7:36)
Why do my kids have physical reactions to shots (9:92)
Changes in her son after vaccine (11:20)
Years before doctors admitted her child had an “adverse event” (13:06)
Child number three has an adverse reaction to shot as does her mother (13:47)
Adverse reactions can happen and should be acknowledged. That doesn’t mean one has to be completely anti-vax (15:43)
    Legislation and vaccine exemptions (19:01)
    Religious exemptions (20:48)
    Autism and vaccines (24:16)
Multiple vaccines administered together and what are the effects (21:44)
    Vaccine Injury Compensation Fund (26:26)
Harvard Pilgrim study regarding vaccine injury (32:04)
HHS failure to study how to reduce the rate of reaction (35:14)
Poly-pharmacy and vaccine injury and failure to study efficacy/safety in people of color (36:55)
Shame and bullying of the vaccine injured (42:30)
Do the unvaccinated spread disease? (43:57)
    Vaccines and politics (49:25)

  • TSC Talks! Chiara Juster, Advocate & Strategic Counsel~Educate. Advocate. Legislate.
TSC Talks had a chance to talk with Chiara Juster, Advocate and Strategic Counsel, Head of Government Affairs, Oaksterdam University, Host of High Tea Tuesdays on OU Instagram and Legal Advisor for The Last Prisoner Project, head counsel for Richard DeLisi (https://freedelisi.com).
    From her bio:

“Chiara Juster is a social justice advocate and attorney. She advises Oaksterdam on government and policy matters and is OU’s liaison to DC; she represents the school as an active member of the National Cannabis Industry Association where she is in her second year on the Diversity Equity and Inclusion committee.

In addition to her work with Oaksterdam, Chiara is an advocate for reform, decarceration, cannabis & works on various policy matters. She was matched by Last Prisoner Project with the longest serving non-violent cannabis offender currently incarcerated in the United States, Richard DeLisi, who has been incarcerated since 1988. With gain time he is set to be released from his ninety year sentence in July, 2022, but that day may never come as Richard is older, in poor health, and in a prison experiencing a COVID19 out break. If you’d like this grandfather of five to live his days with his loving family please visit FreeDeLisi.com.

Chiara grew up in Portland, OR, though she was born in CA. She attended the University of Oregon where she received degrees in political science and sociology before attending the University of Miami School of Law. She realized as a young prosecutor that there was no such thing as prosecutorial discretion. Disheartened, she left the country & spent years traveling & learning, before returning stateside resolute on changing the laws. She is a graduate of Oaksterdam University & hosts High Tea Tuesdays on OU’s IG live where she discusses a Cannacopia of topics.”

Chiara starts off giving some background from a personal perspective:
“I was born in Northern California. But I grew up in Portland, Oregon, from the time I was a toddler, and ended up going to college in Oregon. in a state where cannabis had been decriminalized since 1973. I actually grew up in Earl Blumenauer’s district, I have one of his little pins behind me, he gives a nod on the hill. And when I went to University of Oregon, obviously cannabis had always been part of the culture in Eugene. When I then went to the University of Miami for law school, it was a whole different world, particularly when it came to drug policy, cannabis in particular, to harm reduction overall, and Community Investment”

  • TSC Talks! Plant Teachers~Sarah Hope, Psychedelic Teacher, Microdose Coach
It was wonderful to cross paths with Sarah Hope on LinkedIn recently and have her as a guest on the podcast. She is the first Microdose Coach I have met, let alone interviewed. I have a personal interest in microdosing, mostly cannabis, but recently have tried psilocybin with excellent results. It has been a tool to engage in some perceptual shifts, processing and healing that I found subtle, non-toxic and worthwhile. "With microdosing, basically, what you're going for is a sub perceptual effect, so that you have a slight increase in brain connectivity, but you're not having so much so much electricity or connectivity in the brain that you're tripping or having a plant journey. But you're in this sort of, like, sub perceptual spot, slightly more open to life, perhaps slightly more focused. And it's something probably that people have been doing since ancient times, but the person who made it famous or the person who really kind of operationalize it as a psychological treatment was Dr. James Fadiman." I'm clipping this bio from her LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/shopecoaching/

"I believe in your ability to reconnect with your own true, sacred and powerful nature. When you choose to do so you will access your own power in order to realize your own unique contribution to humanity. When we choose to work together we will settle for nothing less than the best expression of your talent and skill as we design the life you came here to live. I offer this work via three channels.

Reclaiming the Sacred: Purposeful spiritual and cultural retreats and ceremonies and bilingual mindfulness services for people in the midst of life transition.

  • TSC Talks! What Really Matters~Katherine Caulfield, Quantum Freedom, Author, Healer, Astrologer & Mystic
It was our pleasure to speak with Katherine Caulfield on TSC Talks. Katy is an author, energy healer, astrologer and mystic "focused on self-love, self-healing and holistic wellness through uniting the spiritual and physical realms". Jill crossed paths with her when given the gift of a channeled healing through past podcast guest, Dorina Leslie. Not familiar with this modality of healing, I had no idea what to expect, was concerned I was going to "screw it up" and was pleasantly surprised at the outcome. I received some poignant insight and feedback which helped significantly and thought it would be great to have Katy on to share her own story of how she got into this line of work, as well as how she was led to channel 9 books, her kundalini awakening and thoughts on our current state of affairs with covid.

From her website, "Inspired by her own eye-opening spiritual and Kundalini awakening in 2013, Katherine began to follow her heart, her curiosity, her passions and to remember why she had incarnated on Earth. This led to lots of writing, energy work, astrology, travel, communing with nature, learning about consciousness and so much more! A few years later, in the summer of 2015, she received first contact from The Spirit Collective, a team of non-physical guides who informed her they had nine books for her to channel. She is now honored and grateful to deliver these important messages of love and wisdom to all of humanity."

Katy started out by sharing how she was led to this work through her grandmother, "I would say, it almost goes back to my grandmother. So I was named after her, Catherine Katie. And she was a psychic. And so she did these readings. So I grew up with this. I grew up thinking it was normal, you know."

She went on to explain coming to the realization that she had psychic abilities, "I think had always been on some level aware from a young age. Like I had an imaginary friend that I spoke to, which is probably more of like an angel. But, I didn't really step into it until into my 20s. And it was after she passed that, and you know, who knows how that all works, but, she's definitely supporting me on the other side as well."

Pretty cool stuff. Here's one more snippet and then you can go listen to the episode!
"2013 was when I really, as far as I know, I had a spontaneous Kundalini awakening.
It was very intense, very intense, it totally rocked my world. There was no control, there's no way that I could have changed it or, directed it, it was coming from a higher place. I mean, I experienced a lot. And I can go into that, but, very high highs, and then really low lows. So very transformative. But when it first happened, and really throughout, and since then, I would say the only way I could describe it was like a full embodiment, receiving of grace, like divine grace like that."

We will update these show notes with a listing of topics and time they play within the episode shortly!

TSC Talks guest Tiffany Watkins is a “Cannabis Enthusiast”, founder and CEO of Vanguard Media, and cannabis activist. She’s been an activist for 20+ years and has done a lot of work to bring awareness to health care and proper distribution of Medical Cannabis as well as paving the way for Recreational Cannabis.

She has marched the Capital (CA), to help bring a voice to those in need of the protection of the Compassionate Care Act. Additionally, she has attended and spoken at City Council meetings and delivered talks as a keynote when invited.

“I am Tiffany Watkins a.k.a. LadyCanna.

In three decades I have witnessed a lot of changes in this industry, but one thing remains the same; not everyone gets to have a voice. I have been treated with disrespect, talked down to in situations, and made to feel as if my contributions to the Cannabis community didn’t matter.
I knew this treatment was not only because I am a POC, but because I am a Woman. I also knew…I wasn’t alone.

Since the 1990’s it has been my focus to have equity and unity surrounding Cannabis. Working together, with every voice having validity, has been both our greatest asset and our biggest struggle.

Closing the gap between the sexes in the cannabis industry will take hard work from us all. I founded Vanguard Media with providing a platform to bridge that gap in mind. Women in the cannabis community deserve the spotlight…and we shall stand in it unapologetically. “
