TSN 1040: Donnie & The Moj

Guests include Ray Ferraro and Giulio Caravatta.

Ray Ferraro doesn’t mind the Canucks free agent signings, suggesting the players all have potential to do well here…but Ray also says the Canucks have clogged their path a bit now, and have to find room for all these players now. Ray says the next question is how this “ladders” the Canucks prospects, how they start to fall into place and earn playing time.

Guests include Craig Button.

Guests include Jordan Weal.

Craig Button says when you try to integrate young players into your lineup, you have to insulate them with players that can help them and so the Canucks free agency moves make sense. But Craig does say that Alex Burmistrov is a bottom six forward, so don’t bet on him finding an offensive side. Craig likes Toronto’s signing of Patrick Marleau, and says Dallas “has made significant strides” this offseason

North Van’s Jordan Weal enjoyed his free agency visit with the Canucks – the club said a lot of things that made sense to him and what he wants to do as a player. But Jordan says there were also a lot of positives to re-signing in Philadelphia, and those outweighed possibly signing in Vancouver

Guests include Paul Dolan.

Guests include Ray Ferraro.

Ray Ferraro says Connor McDavid’s contract is simply how the league works –top players get paid and that affects secondary contracts on those teams, like with Leon Draisaitl. Ray says he would seriously consider offer-sheeting Draisaitl, even at the cost of four first-rounders. Ray says the McDavid deal probably has Toronto quaking a bit as the Leafs eventually look to pay Matthews, Nylander, and Marner.
