TSN 1040: Donnie & The Moj

Ray Ferraro says Sidney Crosby was phenomenal in game five and it was stunning how quickly Pittsburgh took control of the game. Ray says the only question now is if Nashville can use the home ice energy in game six to find a higher level. Ray says Nolan Baumgartner should lower Alex Edler’s minutes and push him to be more aggressive, focused in those minutes. “Less is more” should be the Edler mantra.

Ben Kuzma of the Province Sports suggests Newell Brown will have a strong effect on the Canucks stagnant power play, citing Brown’s past success in doing so. Kuz thinks the Canucks will protect Brandon Sutter in the expansion draft, suggesting the Canucks are far too thin down the middle to lose him.

Ray Ferraro says Pekka Rinne must step up on the road, as his numbers are noticeably different in Nashville vs in Pittsburgh, and the Preds have to win on the road to win the Cup.Ray is unsure about Seattle as an NHL market, suggesting there are so many major sports splitting entertainment dollars that there simply may not be room for pro hockey.

Ian Furness says he isn’t holding his breath on the NHL coming to Seattle, admitting that despite Wednesday’s Key Arena hoopla, there are a lot of arena and ownership questions to be answered. Ian suggests Seattle is a better hockey market than Dallas and Vegas, so thinks the NHL would work as the only game in winter (assuming the NBA doesn’t come)
