Tucson braced for a wild monsoon storm that brought torrential rain, howling winds, and widespread power outages—turning streets into rivers and toppling eucalyptus trees with shallow roots. An arborist warns these non-native trees are especially vulnerable to microbursts, while even native desert trees can be uprooted if overloaded with rain or acting like sails in high winds. He urges homeowners to thin trees before the season ends and get professionals to inspect risky ones near homes or play areas. With more storms on the horizon, now’s the time to act—and report damage to 311 or Pima County’s Emergency Management line.

A heartbreaking new update reveals that Tawnia McGeehan, 34, and her 11-year-old daughter Addi were found dead in a Las Vegas hotel room after failing to show up for a cheerleading competition. The coroner ruled McGeehan’s death a suicide by gunshot, while evidence suggests Addi had been heavily medicated — with prescription bottles, THC gummies, and an open phone found at the scene.
