In my first episode from Turkey, I describe getting a rental car at the medium-sized Izmir airport. There are mixed opinions out there about whether to rent a car in Turkey, but I will put you at ease. They drive on the right side for Americans, so what could go wrong?
Our first stop was Selçuk. This is a manageable town that serves as the gateway to the ancient city of Ephesus. If you are interested in history, you will love this site as well as nearby Temple of Athena, St. John’s Basilica, and Byzantine fort.
Then we headed to Parmukkale, which is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Country. I was somewhat underwhelmed by the condition of Parmukkale, as it looked nothing like all the flashy brochures I’d seen over the years. The Cleopatra Antique Pools was a highlight of the area for me.
Finally, WTD commits a serious blooper by losing the car! Also in this episode is a discussion of Turkish food and drinks.
If you want to play the currency markets, but don’t want to open a foreign bank account, WTD highly recommends Wise service. Click on the link below to find out more and buy some Euros or other currency. When you need the Euros for that next trip, they’ll be there, and you’ve bought when the dollar was strong.
