Herkese merhaba! Today we start a series. We will read texts from the first topics of Turkish and talk about them. In this episode, which is the first part of the series, we’ll read a text that contains a lot of letters that are difficult to pronounce in Turkish. After listening to this text, I suggest you go to the website and read the text aloud. Let's get started!
First, let me tell you which letters in Turkish are likely tricky to pronounce (though you probably already know them quite well): c as in cam, soft g as in ağaç, ı as in ışık, ö as in ördek, ş as in şarkı, and ü as in üzüm.
Now let’s read the text.
Işık sabah uyandığında, çalar saatine baktı. “Öf, yine geç kaldım!” dedi ve hızla yatağından kalktı. Kahvaltı yapmaya vakti yoktu. Çantasını kaptı ve dışarı çıktı.
Yolda markete uğradı. “Bir simit ve bir ayran alabilir miyim?” diye sordu. Marketçi gülerek, “Tabii ki, Işık! Bugün çok telaşlısın,” dedi. Işık gülümsedi: “Evet, biraz geç kaldım da!”
