The thoughts that start with “what if” are intrusive thoughts, and mostly disturbing. The “what if” thoughts make us think about the worst case scenario and make us dread the future. These thoughts prevail only as a protective mechanism. They want you to be prepared against anything that might threaten you, and because of this these scary scenarios are made up inside your head. But, we could turn them around. If we have to come up with a fake scenario, why not think of something that aligns with what you want?
