Title: Ear Training Course for Guitar: Scales | Practice that and become great at guitar playing | A music lesson you don't want to miss

    Author: Julia Whitlock

    Narrator: Sarah Duarte

    Format: Unabridged

    Length: 06:25:08

    Language: English

    Release date: 10-12-21

    Publisher: Findaway Voices

    Genres: Non-Fiction, Art & Music

    Summary:

Hi, fellow music lover! Congratulations on starting your music-making journey. I won't waste your time with a long introduction, but let me say a few words just to get us off on the right foot.

Ear training is one of the most rewarding skills you can develop, and its one that you can work on every day. Which makes total sense: music is an aural experience, after all. Ear training helps you turn the music you hear into music you make on your guitar. This works for your own musical ideas, too: when you dream up a great riff or chord progression, you naturally want to sit down and play it right away. Ear training helps you do just that.

This lesson is broken into several chapters, each of them focusing on two or three related scales. There are plenty of examples for each scale, so you can work straight through the lesson or hop around as much as you like.

The last chapter is a sort of final exam. It brings together all the scales weve covered and mixes them up for an extra challenge. But you don't have to fear that chapter. Just give it a go every once in a while to measure your progress.

Best of all, this lesson doesnt limit itself to dry theory: every concept we discuss here is played on a real guitar by a real guitarist.

Oh, and before I forget, the most important tip of all: have fun!

    What's inside:

    - all commonly used scales, i.e., major, minor, dorian phrygian, lydian, mixolydian, locrian, covered

    - additionally, harmonic minor, melodic minor, major pentatonic & minor pentatonic covered

    - real guitar recordings throughout

    - well chosen scale comparisons, e.g., aeolian vs. dorian, major vs. mixolydian vs. lydian

    - 6+ hours of scale recognition

    - nice & encouraging female narrator

    Format: Unabridged

    Length: 01:17:21

    Language: English

    Release date: 10-05-21

    Publisher: Findaway Voices

Genres: Biography & Memoir, History & Culture

    Summary:

The Wild West made legends out of many men and women through the embellishment of their stories, but it was Buffalo Bill Cody who truly brought the Wild West to life and provided the images that people still associate with the 19th century West today. Though he had a long career that spanned service in the Civil War, trapping, and even a stint with the Pony Express, Buffalo Bill eventually became synonymous with his world-famous Wild West Show. By depicting stereotypical Western scenes like riding the Pony Express, and gunfights between cowboys and Indians, Buffalo Bill became one of the men most responsible for establishing how the public remembered the Wild West, and the show influenced subsequent film and literature. The show also featured several kinds of activities that are still part of rodeos today, including riding bucking broncos, roping livestock, and target shooting.

Almost absent in the perceptions of modern America is the comprehension of African Americans participating so prolifically in the building of the nation. Print fiction idealizing the cowboy life to Eastern readers would not depict what had ignited the war for which so many had an utter revulsion. The black man of the post-war years did not inspire the white spirit so essential for reveling in the old system. The 20th centurys television and cinematic offerings operated on the same drive, and the existence of black cattle workers was all but blotted out. Indeed, many of the modern age are barely aware that an African-American ever stepped foot on the West bank of the Mississippi River.[1] No one saw the black cowboy on screen or in print, the two information industries that shaped our perception of Americas westward expansion. Therefore, a collective assumption that they must never have existed at all was nationally internalized.
