It’s (finally) getting cold here in Tucson, so here are some books that—in our opinions—seem to match the chilly weather vibe. There’s some belated spooky book recs, lots of historical fiction, and even a cutesy picture book! You can also grab any of these books to help unwind before bed, especially as we head into the end of the semester (we’re feeling the stress too).

Finally, a romance that we both love! Just as the title suggests, today’s episode is a deep dive into The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston, a wonderful contemporary romance with a dash of magic. We talk about working through grief, chasing your dreams, and, of course, falling in love. Join us as we unpack everything we loved about this book! WARNING: major spoilers for The Seven Year Slip ahead, so please stop listening if you would like to enjoy this book spoiler-free.

It may be autumn for most of the Northern Hemisphere right now, but, unfortunately, the weather continues to cruise along in the blistering triple-digits here in Tucson. However, we are mentally done with summer (it’s literally October) even though it’s not done with us, so here is a short recap of some of our favorite (and not-so-favorite) summer reads!

Of course we couldn't spend just one episode talking about the fantastical wonder that is Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber, so here is part 2 for all of you to enjoy!

Welcome back! After a summer separated by a few hundred miles, Sam and Aruna are finally back in the same city for another amazing year at the University of Arizona, and that means the long-awaited (right?) return of Turn the Page! An episode aimed at recapping summer reads is quickly derailed (as per usual) once Aruna brings up her latest read: Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber. If you’ve been following the podcast, or, honestly, listened to any episode at all, you know that Sam is a diehard fan of Stephanie Garber and this series. So of course we spend the whole episode chatting about it! Stay tuned to a future episode all about The Ballad of Never After—which Aruna is trying to finish as soon as possible amidst the flurry of things-to-do that is college.

For our final episode of the season, we had planned to have a discussion on women in literature (a favorite topic of ours, if you haven't surmised that already). However, in typical us fashion, the conversation derails into a discussion about our favorite King Arthur-inspired media pieces. A particular favorite is the TV series Trollhunters... it's very likely that we'll put out a deep-dive episode on that show in the future, so stay tuned!

The second part of our conversation about anything and everything is up! Tune in for even more Grishaverse—if you're itching to hear about a comparison of Shadow & Bone and Six of Crows, we're your girls—a little bit on Bridgerton, a discussion about the ending of A Court of Thorns and Roses, and our differing opinions on YA contemporary romance.
Warning: this episode contains spoilers for the Grishaverse, Bridgerton season 2, and the first ACOTAR book!

Welcome to part one of two of The Grishaverse & Other Things, a delightfully chaotic conversation of the Grishaverse that slowly, but steadily, morphs into a multitude of other topics. We jump from our favorite Grishaverse characters to our hot takes on YA contemporary romance to the obsessive, tension-filled relationships between everyone in The Atlas Six (how did we get here, again?). Get cozy and join us for a fun time!

We were lucky to experience the Golden Age of Wattpad during our middle and high school years, and we're here today to talk all about it! Whether you're a Wattpad veteran or only just hearing of it, you'll enjoy this chaotic episode of us wandering down memory lane. We frantically try to piece together the plots of barely-remembered Wattpad plots, attempt to explain the Wattpad culture c. 2015-2021, and briefly touch on fanfiction (more in part 2!).
