There’s more African American males in the penal system right now than there were (enslaved) at the height of slavery." As we a closer look at the racial disparities in each state’s use of incarceration — that is, states lock up a larger proportion of people of color than you would expect based on how many actually live there.
Studies by Prison Policy Initiative show that every state locks up Black people at a rate at least double that of white people, and on average, at six times the rate of white residents.

LEAST 17 OTHER CIVIL LAWSUITS PENDING...
Alexandre Ansari won a $10 million jury verdict Feb. 9 for damages from his wrongful conviction, the highest amount paid out to an individual involving the City of Detroit to date. Ansari was falsely charged with the 2013 murder of Ileana Cuevas and the shooting of Cuevas’ sister Rosalind Barley and Miguel Figueroa. He was exonerated in 2019, after investigations by the federal Appellate Defenders Office and the Wayne Co. Conviction Integrity Unit (CIU). He was also charged in the murder of Figueroa’s brother in a separate incident later, also involving DPD’s Jimenez, but was acquitted by a jury.

Ewing and his co-defendant Derrico Searcy are being re-tried after 3rd Circuit Court Judge Michael Hathaway and U.S. District Court Judge Denise Page-Hood overturned their convictions for the 2009 murder of J.B. They cited rampant misconduct by a run-away jury that researched “gangs” and other matters on the Internet and Facebook.Also..... we will talk about Ray Gray and his fight for Exoneration. .... and December 2023 a month of Exonerations all over America!
