The Turning Point

Turning Point - Renovations

Listen Later

From Mike Feder, host of The Turning Point.

As a lot of my regular listeners know, in the last few months my shows have been sort of intermittent. The reason for this is that I’ve been having a lot of trouble with my voice.

Recently I went to a voice specialist who did a pretty thorough examination and some tests—and told me that if I wanted to get my voice back into shape— specifically, into the kind of shape where I could talk on the air without constant strain—that I’m going to have to have a couple of months of extensive voice therapy—maybe even have some medical procedures done.

…I’ve been on the radio nearly forty years now, talking about just about anything—personal, political and cultural—and one thing I could always rely on was that I had the ability to use my voice any way I needed to express whatever ideas and feelings I had.
In the last couple of months I haven’t been able to do that the way I want to.

Some of you have gotten in touch and told me that although you understand that I’m having some physical troubles—that my show is important enough to you so that you hope I can continue anyway.

This means a lot to me—just it means so much to me that, over the years, some have you have told me how much my show means to you.

…I think my time on the air was/is always about three things things; first of all, simple self-expression, second, the desire to entertain people, and third, the hope that I was saying things that in some way reflected what people were feeling or thinking— and maybe even that I was saying something that was actually helpful.
…I still feel that way about the radio—but I need to feel that my physical health is good enough to keep doing this. Right now, it’s just not.

So, having said all this, I want to tell you that I’m going to take a couple of months off from the show to get treatment for my voice.

In the mean-time, I don’t want to lose touch with you.

I want to keep you up-to-date about what’s going on (and I might also have some stories to tell and opinions to share). So I hope that if you’re not already on my mailing list, you’ll sign up for it.

If you want to do this, you can go to my website: www.federfiles.com and you’ll find a place there to put your name on the list.

While I’m taking this time off during the next couple of months, you’ll be hearing the best of my past shows—  and anytime you want to hear these shows you can go to: theturningpoint.podbean.com
Also, I want to urge you to keep tuning in to PRN—There’s lot of great programming on this station.

Taking this time off is a hard thing for me to do but it’s necessary. I’ll be talking to you again as soon as I can.

Thanks,

Mike
