We all have lived by a sense of Karma--if we do good, good will happen to us.  If we do bad, bad will happen to us.  Solomon, however, points us to the reality outside of ourselves that says, "We are not made right with ourselves or God by what we do or don't do, but only by Jesus Christ.  This message will have you reevaluating your to-do lists and deepening your dependence on the grace of God.  

More wisdom, more warning.   Solomon opens up the firehose of eternal wisdom on us and soaks us through.  By the end of this conversation we realize that all sorrow that makes it's way into our life, God will turn for our good.  All pain is given or allowed because God is doing a deep work in our souls.

None of us like it when someone a little older than us sits us down and just give us a talking to.  It hurts a little bit. But in Ecclesiastes 7, that is exactly what older, wiser, maybe crankier Solomon does for us. Ecclesiastes 7 is full of deep wisdom and reservoirs of grace.

Solomon's mantra: It's all meaningless.  All of it.  Jobs, money, power, honor.  None of it matters!  But what we discover is that it only lacks meaning because it is stuck under the sun.  In this message we learn that God can redeem all things (our past, our sin, our job, our marriage) and give them deep and beautiful meaning because they are grounded in the perfect work of Jesus.

What happens when you're in the desert of the soul?  How do you find your way out back to God?  Continuing in this series through Ecclesiastes, Solomon lets us in on a secret:  the desert does not have to be desolate.  In fact, God may have us in the desert to cause parts of us to come back to life.

Life goes bad.  It's not a matter of if things hit the fan, it's a matter of when.  We continue in our series through the book of Ecclesiastes and Solomon gives us a "working man's solution" to life's sorrow.
