Nora plans a heist on McCulloch Technologies, who have made weapons from the satellite shrapnel. Needing accomplices who will not be affected by the metapower dampeners on-site, she recruits Bug-Eyed Bandit, Rag Doll, and Weather Witch. After going through the dampeners at McCulloch, the Rogues turn on Nora and threaten to kill all the employees unless the Flash reveals his identity. While Sherloque distracts the Rogues as a hologram of the Flash, Barry, Iris, and Joe show up with guns. Iris and Joe help the hostages escape and take down Rag Doll, while Barry and Nora team up to disable the dampeners and apprehend the others. Nora reveals she was trying to steal a mirror gun capable of destroying Cicada's dagger. She makes amends with her parents and agrees to abandon Thawne's plan. Barry, however, wants to use the gun. Meanwhile, Caitlin and Ralph discover that Cisco's metahuman cure prototypes have been stolen and realize that Cicada can weaponize a lethal version of the cure with the cryo-atomizer. Elsewhere, Cicada works on the cryo-atomizer, envisioning her uncle beside her.
Barry and Iris fight over him sending Nora back without consulting her. Iris reprograms the Time Sphere and travels to 2049. There, Nora wants Thawne to teach her how to use the Negative Speed Force to time travel without being detected by her father. After an unsuccessful attempt, Nora and Thawne are confronted by Iris, who wants to take Nora back with the Time Sphere. An upset Nora instead enters the Negative Speed Force. Thawne admits he made a mistake and tells Iris to reunite her family. Meanwhile, Icicle steals a cryo-atomizer from Tannhauser Industries and then kidnaps Caitlin and Carla, planning to eliminate their human sides. Caitlin turns into Killer Frost to fight Icicle, while Barry saves Carla from a cryo chamber. Icicle is about to kill Caitlin, when Thomas Snow suddenly finds the strength to return to his human form. Cicada, who earlier kidnapped her younger self, arrives and fights Killer Frost. Thomas sacrifices himself for his daughter by stepping in front of Cicada's dagger, after which Cicada escapes with the cryo-atomizer. Unknown to anyone, Carla tests positive for icicle powers. Finally, Barry admits he was wrong and he and Iris agree to work together to help their daughter. Elsewhere, Nora emerges from the Negative Speed Force with glowing red eyes.
Team Flash reads Nora's diary and learns that she discovered her powers and her relation to the Flash after subsequent encounters with two speedsters: Godspeed and Thawne. Flashforwards show Nora working as a forensic scientist like her father. After being hit by Godspeed, Nora discovers she had a chip implanted into her that dampened her powers, which causes a rift between her and her mother. After Godspeed's citywide rampage kills Nora's best friend and co-worker Lia, Thawne helps Nora control her newfound powers and defeat the rampaging speedster. Thawne then becomes her mentor as he did with Barry. With Thawne's help, Nora finds the Time Vault, where she learns that her father was the Flash. In the present, Iris releases Nora from the pipeline out of guilt, after learning of her future self's deception of their daughter, but Barry sends her home out of distrust and without Iris's consent. Barry then visits Thawne at Iron Heights, glad that he is awaiting execution for his crimes.
Team Flash finds out that a suburban mom named Vickie Bolen is in danger and they race to save her. Upon meeting her, they discover she’s a meta-human who is hiding her abilities from her family. Barry encourages Vickie to share her secret with her family, which makes Nora realize she needs to come clean with her parents about Thawne.
In 2049, Thawne warns Nora that they have to act fast to stop Cicada once and for all because a new timeline is trying to push its way into being -- and bring something really big, is coming with it. In the present, Nora and Barry confront a new metahuman, Acid Master, whose burn marks were on a newspaper article shown to Nora in the future, which leads her to deduce that the final confrontation with Cicada is upon them. Meanwhile, Joe and Cecile interrogate Dr. Ambres about working with Dwyer, when she reveals to them that Dwyer's niece Grace is a metahuman now. Barry reveals this to Dwyer, which makes him reconsider his whole vendetta, and successfully convinces him to take the metahuman cure by bringing up the possibility of curing Grace. Dwyer is taken to S.T.A.R. Labs and given the cure, but during the operation the facility is attacked by a new Cicada, who kills Dr. Ambres and abducts Dwyer. At a cabin in the woods, the new Cicada unmasks herself to reveal an adult Grace.
The metahuman cure is finally finished and Team Flash decides that King Shark would be the ideal subject to test it on. The team travels to A.R.G.U.S. and requests of Lyla to get in contact with King Shark, who aggressively attacks the team under the mind-control of Gorilla Grodd. Barry reacts by injecting the cure into King Shark, turning him back into his human form - Shay Lamden. Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Caitlin discovers that although the cure worked, there is still dark matter in Shay's pituitary gland and his body rapidly changes back and forth between his human and shark forms. Shay's wife, of Earth-1, Tanya, is convinced by Sherloque to talk with Shay. Later, Grodd mind-controls Cisco and Caitlin to steal Dr. Lamden's telepathy-crown to amplify his powers so he can control all of Central City. Seeing no other option and wanting to make amends for his crimes as King Shark, Shay gives up his chance of being human to help Team Flash stop Grodd; even in spite of the possibility of never being human again. Meanwhile, Joe returns home to Cecile and trains Iris to overcome Cicada who Barry suggests they offer the cure to instead of forcing it on him.
Barry takes the meta cure into the Speed Force to help speed up the synthesizing process by using tachyons as a catalyst, leaving an upset Nora behind. Elsewhere, Iris gets kidnapped, but she manages to alert Nora and Caitlin to her location. They arrive, but Cicada kills Caitlin; further distressing Nora to the point where she runs so fast, she goes back in time. Here, in this alternate timeline, Cicada kidnaps Ralph instead, and though the situation plays out somewhat the same as the last time, Ralph is killed. Nora resets time again, which causes Sherloque to become suspicious of her, but this leads to Cicada kidnapping him. Nora goes in alone this time, only to learn that Cisco was killed. She repeatedly tries again, but someone on Team Flash always gets killed each time. Before her final attempt, Cisco reveals what she's done, so she confesses and storms off. Cisco consoles her, and together with the rest of the team, works on a new plan to stop Cicada. This time, they make it so that Cicada stabs himself with his dagger, forcing him to flee. Barry returns, and after learning what Nora's done, warns her against messing with time any further. Back in 2049, Nora visits Thawne for reassurance that their plan is not making things worse. He convinces Nora to follow through with the plan to defeat Cicada and destroy his dagger, while assuring her that afterwards, they will save her father.
Barry and Ralph must go undercover as criminals in an illegal black market to purchase a device that could help them stop Cicada. Once inside, Barry and Ralph find their morality tested as they slip deeper into the criminal underworld, eventually having to choose between committing a crime, or losing the means to defeat one of their greatest foes. Meanwhile, Iris investigates a lead on Cicada's whereabouts and ends up in a dangerous situation.
The team plan to try and wake Grace up, thus preventing Cicada from killing anyone else. Sherloque proposes a method in which they can enter Grace's memories and thus attempt to wake her up from there, however, Nora preemptively enters Grace's memories and attempts to help her wake up, on her own. Barry and Iris discover that Nora has entered Grace's mind and attempt to follow, but end up in Nora's memories where they discover STAR Labs has been turned into the Flash Museum. They are pursued by a memory of the Reverse Flash, before encountering a memory of Nora and Iris bonding, which they use to exit Nora's memories. Nora attempts to wake Grace, but Nora discovers to her horror that Grace shares her uncle's anti-meta views and knows the only person that can help her is Cicada, who attacks Nora before Barry and Iris save her and exit Grace's mind. Caitlin reveals that a satellite shard loaded with Dark Matter is lodged in Grace's brain and is creating a barrier meaning they can't re-enter Grace’s mind. Meanwhile, Iris starts the Central City Citizen, which Nora reveals was originally founded in 2021, meaning Iris is changing the future. Finally, Cisco makes some headway on the meta cure, which Barry decides to use on Cicada.
During a battle with Cicada, Nora is severely injured. Due to Cicada's dampening powers, Nora's speed healing isn't working, leaving Barry and Iris scared for their daughter's future. Upset about his injured child, the Flash is filled with rage and confronts Cicada in a brutal battle. Meanwhile, Killer Frost keeps interfering with Caitlin's work on the cure.
