Finally, we talked a bit about the 2021 Sundance Film Festival. As a virtual event, it was okay, given that Zoom Webinars are not known for stable frame rates or high resolutions. It was refreshing to view such groundbreaking cinema from the comfort of one's home.

This Listener Newsletter comes after Term 2 has concluded. In-person instruction resumes for those who wish on February 8. Mandatory COVID-19 testing is required in advance. In this shorter episode, we have a limited cast but a full roster of fun. We open with Will introducing our show and Traiton introduces us to Mr. Mystery, the Mystical Master of Mystery. Mr. Mystery gives us a blow-by-blow on the 1960's classic sci-fi horror film The Slime People, along with a movie review, just a little too late for Halloween. After the lengthy review, Brogan describes how our very own West High School football team is doing very well in the state playoffs, and then the WoW (trunculent) is spoiled by Will; however, it's all in good fun. We quickly discuss the 2020 US general elections, and then we sign off to go eat lunch. We also are adjusting to a less predictable release schedule going into Term 2; please bear with us.

The third installment in the StW saga's second year includes a myriad of great content, including our new WotW (Word of the Week), "sinuous". Don't look it up yet unless you like spoilers! We delve into more controversial topics in this episode, providing commentary on the recent events surrounding popular social media platform TikTok and its relationship with the US government and its Chinese parent company, ByteDance. In addition to the ban discussion, we rip open the September 29th presidential debate between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden in Cleveland, Ohio; we attempt to answer some questions people may have and analyze what effects the debate may have made on the American public on the whole. Fourth, we discuss the hyper-local effects of COVID-19 on the Salt Lake Valley and hold a 30-second moment of silence for all those affected by the pandemic directly. Fifth (but not last), we check up on our West High Football team and remark on their outstanding record this year. To round out the show, we check the West High website for school news (west.slcschools.org), read the latest Sept. 28 newsletter from SLCSD Interim Superintendent Larry Madden, and attempt to make a better outro. We hope you enjoy it.
