In this episode, each contestant will take on a song from the legendary Queen catalogue, before partnering up for classic movie duet performances.

Helping to prepare the Top 8 to rock the stage is “American Idol” alumnus and GRAMMY®-nominated artist Adam Lambert, who acts as celebrity guest mentor. Since first appearing on “American Idol” in 2009, Lambert has gone on to release four albums, has appeared in numerous hit television series and is currently touring the U.S. with Queen.

The Live Cross Battles begin. In the all-new, game-changing round of competition, artists from opposing teams will compete head-to-head live for America’s vote.

From the episode description:

The winner of each Cross Battle will be revealed, as 8 artists advance to the Top 24 through America’s vote. For the first time ever, each coach will also have the opportunity to save or steal eliminated artists live in the moment. The coaches will have one save and one steal to use over the course of the Cross Battles. They will have ten seconds to decide if they want to push their button to save or steal an artist.

For the first time in “VOICE” history, coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton will select artists from their team in real time to compete against artist from other teams. Eight pairs of 16 artists will perform, and each artist will perform an individual song. Carson Daly ("TODAY Show") hosts.

American Idol "Disney Night and Meet The Top 8 Party" Season 2 Episode 12

On the TVMusic Network Podcast with Phyllis and Belinda, the Thomas sisters discuss “American Idol”’s Disney Night. Top 10 contestants went to Disneyland to prepare for the next phase of the competition, Disney Night. The finalists will be joined by celebrity mentor Rebel Wilson.

ABC’s Season 1 “American Idol” winner, Maddie Poppe, and runner-up Caleb Lee Hutchinson, return to the stage to sing a Disney classic during a special duet performance.

Two contestants went home. 

The next day the sisters attended an American Idol listening session where the Top 8 performed acoustic style and then along with the judges and Bobby Bones met the press.

The Voice " Live Cross-Battles Part 1" Season 2 - Episode 11

American Idol - "Top 10 Revealed" Season 2 Episode 10

On this episode of the TVMusic Network Podcast with Phyllis and Belinda, the Thomas sisters discuss the American Idol Top 10 Results Show. 

The 14 remaining Idol hopefuls were widdled down to seven by the nation-wide vote, and then each of the judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan saved one contestant from going home.  The Idols getting America's vote were Alejandro Aranda, Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon, Laci Kaye Booth, Laine Hardy, Madison Vandenburg, Walker Burroughs, and Wade Cota. The contestants that were saved by the judges were Uche, Alyssa Raghu, and Dimitrius Graham.
