The book was in perfect condition, the only problem is that the book ...
The book was in perfect condition, the only problem is that the book wasn't listed as being written in Spanish and I can only read English. Other than that, everything was great.
An Important Read
I've not seen the film and not sure I will if it faithfully follows this book. The magnitude of man's inhumanity to man is in almost every page and one can only wonder at how strong these slaves were to cope with the unrelenting brutality, cruelty and treated less than any animal. It is an important and courageous book written in times when it may have been wise to keep quiet. It should be in every secondary school reading list. Once you get over the old English style of writing it very quickly draws you into every page and you live every moment that Solomon Northup experienced. My only negative is a minor one and that is the author unfortunately did not give more of his life after freedom. It is conjecture as to what happened to him after returning to his family. I thought this an excellent book and some weeks after reading it still feel the effects.
