Tonight's guest is: Patrick Benson is an Army Veteran, Horse Trainer and Co-founder and Director of War Horses for Veterans, an equine program providing personal and professional opportunities for combat veterans and first responders. As a child, Patrick loved riding horses. He enlisted in the US Army Infantry after high school serving in the Kosovo Campaigns in 1999 and in Operation Iraq Freedom in 2003. When he completed his military service, Patrick attended a John Lyons Certification Program for training horses and then founded his own equine training program. This week we have Clark Impastato. From 1995 to 2001 Clark served in the US Navy on the USS Shiloh and at SEAL Team 5, Foxtrot Platoon. During that time Clark deployed to the Persian Gulf and South East Asia. After separating from the Navy, Clark served with 19th Group Special Forces from 2002 to 2003. From 2003 to 2007, Clark continued his service as a Private Military Contractor deploying multiple times to Israel, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Upon his return home to the United States, Clark served with the Phoenix Police Department from 2008 to 2016. And bonus guest Keith Bridges, Founder of Rucking 2 Remember (R2R). R2R will be stepping off on a 365 mile ruck 26 October from Marine Corps base Camp Lejeune and will conclude the Ruck at Arlington National Cemetery on Veterans Day.

While there are several programs to help them, the stigma with addressing mental health limits our Vets from getting the treatment they need. DD214 was started by two Marines who couldn't stand by and watch our brothers and sisters suffer without a fight. We were lucky enough to find an outlet with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to help us adjust. Jeff Morris is a former Infantry Officer in the United States Army who served two deployments to Baghdad, Iraq as a Platoon Leader and Company Commander. He wrote "Legion Rising," offering a glimpse of the rigors of military training through his personal experiences from boot camp to Ranger Assessment and through his experiences in combat as a Platoon Leader in Iraq. I had the chance to talk with two time Emmy Award winning filmmaker, Jerri Sher.

From her site: "Her latest film, "Quiet Explosions" is the story of Special Forces Green Beret, Andrew Marr, who returned home from his third deployment, a quietly broken man. The high-ranking explosives expert suffered a multitude of traumatic brain injuries after being "front and center" to hundreds if not thousands of detonations in Afghanistan. Issued thirteen mind-altering medications including narcotics by the VA, Marr continued to suffer fatigue, depression, panic, anxiety, disorientation, memory loss, and chronic pain. His favorite bedtime companions, whiskey and a loaded shotgun, almost destroyed him and his family. When it was almost too late, he found Dr. Mark Gordon, Neuroendocrinologist, who developed a safe treatment protocol for TBI with or without PTSD. Their work has been helping veterans and civilians through their Warrior Angels Foundation and the Millennium-TBI Project."
