The book of 1 Samuel takes Israel from the time of the judges to the beginning of the monarchy and teaches us that God establishes His purposes through those who humbly depend upon Him and not the might of men.

There are only two responses possible to the gospel-humble, submissive worship of Christ, or prideful, stubborn rejection of Christ.

-The book of Kings, written to exiled Jews, warns us of the consequences of idolatry and syncretism in our worship, and also encourages us that God still preserves a remnant in the midst of mass compromise.-

-The book of Kings, written to exiled Jews, ensures us that God is still sovereign even in the midst of judgment, and that our hope of salvation is in His faithfulness to Himself and His promises.-

Christ is the true Shepherd. The exclusive message of the gospel is that salvation, and satisfaction of the soul, is found in Him alone.

In Psalm 36, David traces the pervasiveness and pathology of sin, praises the preciousness of grace, and prays for the preservation of the righteous.

There is a great contrast between true and false shepherds -false teachers-. And true sheep listen to and follow true shepherds.
