Jesus called Nathaniel a man without guile or deceit. Nathaniel was candid with biases, but changed in the presence of Jesus. How does grace demonstrate sincerity and frankness?

Jesus curses a fruitless fig tree and symbolically shows the fruitless religion of Israel and the need to trust that He has the authority to determine what true fruitful religion is.

This passage in the Gospel of Mark tells of Jesus' miraculous calming of a great storm of which he and his disciples are in the midst.

1. In our fallen world, calamity occurs, but like the disciples, we are not in the boat alone.

2. The reality of faith is grounded in Christ alone and not circumstances.

3. The Majesty of God is all around us, but God must give us the ability to see.

Doubt is displayed by everyone, even John the Baptist.

Doubt is dispelled by evidence - Jesus sent word to John of His miracles and His Gospel in order to help him while he was in Herod's prison.

In this Matthew 15 passage, Jesus exposes the Pharisees and the bankruptcy of their false religion. Then and now, only Christ is the "True Religion" - infinitely capable of restoring the hearts of sinful humans to an infinitely Holy God.

Jesus enters into the brokenness of our lives just as he did in the first century lives of two "daughters" - one broken by twelve years of suffering and one whose life ended at only twelve years.

Unbelief is progressive, as evidenced in this passage from the Gospel of Matthew. The unbelief of the Pharisees quickly devolves from character assassination to actual assassination. Our lives will show a progression of belief or unbelief.
