Good read with a geographical goof

Excellently crafted novel, fully fleshed characters, and the tension rarely eases. I enjoyed the author's first book in this series, and the inclusion of characters from that first book was an added bonus. These books are not light and easy reads; they contains graphic scenes of violence, and exhibit the author's grasp of PTSD and all its ramifications. I wish more people would read these books so they could begin, perhaps, to understand the horrors of war and its effect on those who protect us.

There is only one misstep (approximate location 2362), and this could be solved with a judicious edit. Aiden has left Jillian's parents' home in Mobile, Alabama, and is headed west through Texas, toward Jillian who is near Flagstaff, Arizona. The author has Aiden staying at a "mom and pop motel in Texas" and the next paragraph begins, "I spent the night in Albuquerque..." OK, that would make sense, having driven various routes through Texas over the years. But two paragraphs down we read, "I-10 west snaked through southern Arizona, and I turned north on I-17 in Phoenix." What?! First, he's in Texas, then in Albuquerque (which is on I-40 and about 325 miles east of Flagstaff), and then bingo! he's suddenly back south a couple hundred miles, heading toward Phoenix on I-10? C'mon...that just doesn't make sense. I urge the author to look at a map and then eliminate the reference to I-10/I-17 and just state that he headed west on I-40. It really does bring the flow of the story to a sudden stop.

Wow! I can't get enough of this story. Aiden jumped off the pages. I couldn't help but find myself wishing I could hug the man. Another action packed story. I was wondering how T.J. would beat Karen's story. Her story being so emotionally charged. But man, she did it. Aiden broke my heart from the get go. It's more that emotional. It puts you in the passenger seat as you drive down the path of PTSD, trauma, shock, and survival. Again she hit the nail on the head putting some very good examples of how PTSD is a very different demon for every single person. It doesn't matter how strong you are. Or how sheltered you were as a kid. It doesn't discriminate. For that alone, I am forever grateful for this series. The stories are off the charts with action. Heart pounding unpredictable scenes that throw you for a loop. I don't want to give any spoilers here. It's worth the read. You won't be able to put this one down.
