Welcome to Twisted Motherhood! 2020 TAUGHT ME...
As we roll out of the year 2020, I can’t help but to get emotional. This has been one of the hardest and I do mean HARDEST years of my life! I lost a parent this year y’all. My DADDY!!! ♥️♥️ Talk about lost... I never knew that the loss of a parent could bring so many unexplained feelings. And that’s in addition to the other unsolicited horrors that we’ve experienced.
So many have perished this year, all over the world so the sheer ability to inhale on my own is a blessing in itself. Through all of the death and depression, racial tension, police brutality, lack of national leadership, broken families and broken spirits, lost friendships, and all else that we’ve experienced - WE ARE STILL HERE! We were STILL granted with favor and the opportunity to see and experience another day. So our work here isn’t done!!
It’s safe to say 2020 had many unexpected twists and turns. But WITH ALL OF MY PAIN, I persevered to the end. I’m proud of myself - launching two businesses and a brand while battling grief! Now that’s big! I am so excited about what’s to come in the new year and through it all... I’m thankful!! God never left my side even when others did!

Below you will find my top 5 lessons learned in 2020. I just thought I’d share!
1. You will learn a lot about life while experiencing death. Watching my dad endure the process of going from a seemingly healthy person to a urn of bone dust taught me that. Appreciate everything! Good and Bad! Because when your chest falls as you exhale for the last time, that’s it! Be thankful!
2. Life, much like everything else, is how you look at it. Perspective is everything! Sometimes we have to adjust our default settings, catch our bearings and plow through. (Psssst....It’s the only way out!)
3. Boundaries (across all relationships) are absolutely necessary!! Some relationships - friends, family, foes have more years than substance and they just have to GO! Evaluation is necessary as we grow. Take a look around, reassess, and realign. Hire, fire... do what’s necessary for your peace and sanity.
4. Never, and I do mean NEVER depend on ANYONE else for your betterment. It’s YOUR journey and until YOU change it, YOU will experience the same crap day in and day out until you pass the test. Period.
5. ALWAYS HAVE A BACK UP PLAN AND MULTIPLE STREAMS OF INCOME. 2020 should’ve given EVERYONE a reason to hustle!
