This one's got girth!

 

This week, the guys welcome special guest Zach Delisi for their longest episode yet. 

 

First up, we're going to take a dive into one of the all time great experimental films, with 2001's "Donnie Darko" Ultimately we leave this discussion with more questions than answers, which is somehow still possible after having seen the movie a multitude of time. Topics include, but are not limited to; Is Frank some type of omnipotent being throughout the movie, is Grandma Death also a time traveler, and Where is our second sequel concerning Donnie and Gretchen's time baby?

 

After that, we're kicking the insanity up a notch by talking about the 1991 cult classic "Drop Dead Fred." Which may have left Twitty more confused than even Donnie Darko could, which is certainly saying something. All this and more on this week's Twitty and the Bran!

This week we're taking on two movies that are some of the bloodiest, most violent works to ever feature the Marvel logo.

 

First up we'll head to *checks notes* Tampa for some reason, in order to break down 2004's "The Punisher." A tale of two halves, this movie has so much origin story jammed into the first half it's basically a prequel.

 

Rounding out the show we'll dive into another bloody revenge flick, with "Deadpool." Easily the funniest movie in the vast pantheon of Marvel flicks, we'll see how this one continues to hold up a few years since it's release.

This week, a special guest from the Friends of Twitty and the Bran fantasy league stops by for league update, and stays for the fun as we dive into a special Football episode. 

 

First up the team throws out some top 5 lists for the greatest pigskin flicks of all time. After that they get down to business with today's content

 

First up we're heading to the yard, "The Longest Yard" that is. Taking us back to an era when they MTV Films logo was all too common, this one proved to still be a fun Adam Sandler outing 15 years after it's release. 

 

Following up on that we tackle 2000s "The Replacements" and opinions are pretty split. Did John Madden do this movie because he needed money? And could they have made this movie without Gene Hackman by just CGIing some of his footage from "Hoosiers" in?

This week, Twitty and the Bran are breaking down what you could argue are the world's worst adaptations. 

 

First up, we have M Knight Shyamalan's horrid attempt at bringing a timeless classic to the big screen with "The Last Airbender". What was M Knight thinking with the racial casting choices in this movie? Do people hate this movie too much? Did he realize how bad of a movie he made when he refused to use the full title?

 

Rounding out the show with some content we actually enjoyed, we take a dive into 2001's "A Knight's Tale"

 

From top notch casting to out of place twists to the sword and stoicism format, this flick delivers a memorable, if some times confusing 2 hour runtime. But the main question we find ourselves asking is How much anachronism is too much when it's on purpose?

These are the voyages of the Podcast Twitty and the Bran. It's continuing mission; To seek out exciting content, and strange new shows. Boldly going where no man has gone before. 

 

This week's episode is the culmination of a two year plan by Twitty to indoctrinate Bran to the wonders of the Star Trek Fandom.

 

First up, we have Star Trek (2009). The first of the Abrams trilogy, this one often leaves a bad taste in the mouth of long time Trek fans. We take the good and the bad, and the nonsensical; and pass the bits on down to you!

 

Following up on that, we have a handful of some of the best episodes The Next Generation has to offer. Featuring an omnipotent troublemaker, a very heavy handed metaphor for the USSR, and Riker in full bearded glory; these episodes are the final nail in the coffin that represents Bran's journey to the fandom.

Shorter ep than usual coming at you this week due to some issues getting the rights to a planned rerelease. 

 

This week we're dicussing the first three episodes of "The Boys" Season 2, as well as the inaugural Friends of Twitty and the Bran fantasy football league.

Alternatively known as "The Public Transit Special" The boys are back in studio, and they're back to content of the feature length variety.

 

First up is a blockbuster from 1994. Starring Keanu Reeves and Sandy Bullock, we have a need, a need for "Speed." Faced with such questions as what happened to the deadman trigger? and was that the nicest dressed homeless woman in LA,? Twitty and Bran ultimately decide to just let go and get fully pumped for this one. 

 

Following that up is a quick dive into a movie that is somehow both dystopian and fashion forward. We ask "The Warriors" to come out and play, and settle in for a breakdown of this New York's quirky and ineffectual gangs.

 

Can You Dig It?

This week, the boys handle some historical fiction, in miniseries form.

 

From the depths of Stephen King's brain comes "11.22.63." 

 

A period piece with Sci Fi bookends, this one is a personal favorite of Twitty and the Bran, and well worth the watch before listening.

This week, Twitty and the Bran are tackling films about tortured geniuses.

First up we have "The End of the Tour". Chronicling the meeting of famed writer David Foster Wallace and Rolling Stone reporter David Lipsky; this flick is a gripping character study that effects us on a deeply personal level.

 

Sure to balance it out with some laughs, we move on to discus "A Futile and Stupid Gesture." Detailing the rise of Comic writer Doug Kenney, and the massively successful National Lampoon brand, this one gives us some comedy to work with, while still diving into nuanced character study of a brilliant, tortured mind.

Back from vacation and raring to go, our first movie selection, "Cool as Ice" brings the excitement to an immediate halt. But it's for your benefit as we pick apart as much of that travesty as we possibly can in 40 minutes, to great amusement.

 

Following up with something actually worth watching, Twitty and Bran dive into "Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping". We brief you on Twitty's longtime love of The Lonely Island, and how this movie is somewhat an allegory to their careers.
