Morgan takes Tom back to the early 1990s and through some of his favourite Sega Mega Drive games, including Streets of Rage 2, Golden Axe and Sonic the Hedgehog. Tom also educates Morgan about the horrific Shaq Fu and how it may have influenced 50 Cent.
Beer choice: Innis & Gunn lager (reference – err, because there are some guns in Sega games)
Check out our other video game episodes, including about Point and Click Adventure Games and the Megadrive’s successor, the Sega Dreamcast.
Tom helps Morgan refresh his memory of the good old days of the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, and try not to have our childhoods ruined by shoddy production, racist undertones and dodgy spandex suits. We also discuss the ‘classic’ movie, its many TV spinoffs and the future film.
Beer choice: Doom Bar (reference – Rita Repulsa’s impending doom. Yeah, we know.)
Developments since broadcast:
Morgan and Tom hark back to the good old 1990s and the forgotten gem that was Sliders starring Jerry O’Connell.
Well, it was a gem until the third season onwards when Fox ruined it. We find out just what went wrong with a brilliant sci-fi premise, including exclusive audio from John Rhys-Davies!
Beer choice this time: Old Mout Cider – as ciders rhymes with Sliders.
Developments since broadcast:
Morgan and Tom explain just why Die Hard is the best action movie of all time, why Jai Courtney almost single-handedly ruined the series, and the many clones from Cliffhanger to Executive Decision.
We also discover how Die Hard could have starred Frank Sinatra instead of Bruce Willis, and we almost fall out when trying to rank the films.
Beer choice this time: German ale Franziskaner Weissbier in tribute of Hans and Simon Gruber.
Developments since broadcast:
This time, Morgan geeks out about his favourite 1990s cartoon series, teaching Tom all about gruffly-voiced Wolverine, heartbreaking beastly romances and why will.I.Am isn’t the world’s best actor.
We look back at the entire history and making of the classic X-Men: The Animated Series, and how it may have inspired the future film series.
Beer choice this week was Guinness XX – we think you can guess why.
Developments since broadcast:
– In August 2020, it was announced that there were talks ongoing with Disney+ to revive the series.
Finally, we’re talking about video games in this episode!
Tom takes Morgan through the world of nostalgic point and click games like Monkey Island, Broken Sword and The Longest Journey. And we moan about ridiculous puzzles involving goats, rubber duckies and moustaches.
Developments since broadcast:
Back to the 1980s as Morgan takes his ‘companion’ Tom to the 31st century for the one-series brilliance of Ulysses 31.
Find out about rubbish No-No, ‘floaty-stone comas’ and its incredible epic theme song.
It’s the most geekiest time of the year… if these 12 incredible Christmas TV specials are anything to go by.
Tom and Morgan have selected 12 fascinating (and sometimes dreadful) festive episodes or one-off movies based around the geekiest shows around – featuring: The X-Files, Power Rangers, Sliders, Biker Mice from Mars, Terrahawks, He-Man & She-Ra, X-Men, Doctor Who, Dinosaurs, Lois & Clark, Community and the god awful Star Wars Holiday Special.
We also have a couple of Christmassy treats including a parody of a certain festive classic from Bowie and Bing….
Back to the world of kids TV this time, as Tom teaches Morgan all about two 1990s cartoons about kick-ass anthropomorphic gunslingers: Bucky O’Hare and the Biker Mice from Mars. Only in the 90s.
We wonder how we’ve never heard of Avenger Penguins, realise that StarFox is just a ripoff of Bucky and reminisce about fancying Gadget from Rescue Rangers.
Rather appropriately, our 13th episode sees Morgan teach Tom all about two of the most iconic horror films of all time: Halloween and Friday the 13th.
Don’t get too spooked as we complain about crap sequel titles and the utterly dreadful “abomination” Halloween: Resurrection.
