What would you get if you crossed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mega-Man, and Weapon-X? Apex: Cybernetic Samurai Owl

A short review of the first arc of a fun indie action comic written by Kenny Aitken and illustrated by Brian Balando. A great superhero romp that doesn't demand a lot of your time, and doesn't try to to be more than it is. Plus, it's not yet another "what if superheroes, but assholes" comic (which kind start to get old after a while).

Is it perfect? No.

Am I looking forward to the second arc being done? Definitely!

The Idiots discuss cyberpunk (the genre), and it's relation to the current world we live in.

A dystopic society where people work multiple jobs and do whatever they can on the side just to make enough money to keep a roof over their head and food on the table, while the wealthy elite sit in their ivory towers, basking in the glow of their exceptionally large bank accounts and stock portfolios, where the politicians are in the pockets of the giant corporations that would gladly sacrifice a thousand lives for .01% more profit, where your access to life saving medications and technologies are limited by how much money you have.... pure fiction, right? Riiiiiight?

The Idiots discuss the Netflix comic book movie The Old Guard.

Released in 2020, and starring Charlize Theron, Kiki Layne, and Matthias Schoenaerts, The Old Guard is based off the 2017 Image comic of the same name and follows a group of immortal soldiers and an organization that wants to capture them and use them for personal gain. It features a diverse cast, and a great mix of action, humor, and social commentary. Well worth the watch, if for no other reason that Charlize Theron with an axe.

The Idiots discuss gatekeeping, the issues with it, and the issues it causes in communities.

We've all heard of it, most of us have seen it happen, some of us have participated in it (intentionally or not), and some of us have been victims of it. The act of keeping people out of a community or hobby because you don't think they belong. They're the wrong gender, the wrong skin color, the wrong sexuality, not enough of a fan. There's another kind of gatekeeping too though, one that's more widespread and more insidious.

Note: Being excluded as a consequence of your actions is not gatekeeping.

The Idiots engage in MORTAL KOMBAT!! as they discuss this 2021 adaptation of the popular fighting game franchise.

Released on HBO Max, with a cast of relative unknowns (Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Joe Taslim, and Mehcad Brooks make up the primary cast) and based off a video game, Mortal Kombat has all the makings of a complete dumpster fire of a movie. Somehow though, they got the right mix of serious and camp in the writing, and a cast who could pull it off and they made it work better than it ever should have, leading to the rare instance of a video game movie that's not a steaming pile of dung.

Zolgar reviews the action/horror indie comic Siege Town from Witching Hour Comics.

Siege Town is written by Benjamin Ruffet, illustrated by Andrey Portilla, with colors by Cristian Ramirez. A brutal, bloody fight for survival from a team I'd love to see more from.

Originally releasing in 2013, RWBY (pronounced 'Ruby') is an anime-inspired American animated series, featuring stylistic art and a lot of focus on specific colors... and some of the most asinine weapons ever created for a media property. Netflix surprised us with Episode 11 of The Sandman, so of course the Idiots had to talk about it!

Spoiler warning: If you have not watched episode 11 or read issues 17 and 18, there are spoilers contained herein. Lots of spoilers.

There's several little side stories within The Sandman, some hint at bigger things to come, some are just cool little standalones, following season 1 which gave us the first two major arcs from the comics, they decided to stealth drop one more episode that contains two of these side stories.

The Dream of 1000 Cats, an animated feature wherein we experience Dream and dreams from the perspective of a cat.

Calliope, the story of a Muse enslaved by a mortal, forced to give him inspiration to make him a successful author.

With some absolutely stellar casting in both. It definitely stands up to the rest of Sandman.
