Two Little Kits

This fortnight, I'm celebrating a gorgeous new finish with FlossyFoxShop's "Winter Fantasy House", now hanging happily beside its autumn sibling, and giving you a sneak peek at "Deserving Joy" — what will be the next self-care piece in my "Adulting" series. Between near-finishes on the "Quilting Fox" and the final mammoth on the "Museum After Midnight" SAL, the stitchy mojo has been in full swing.

Of course, life wouldn't be complete without a bit of real-world drama to keep me on my toes [foreboding foreshadowing 🫣]. I share the whirlwind story of a rather terrifying foot scare (complete with a doctor dropping the word "gangrene" before a wonderful vascular specialist gave me the all-clear!), fawn over my lovely husband's hard work on StitchKit, and beg you all to hold me accountable because October is here and a certain Halloween costume isn't going to finish itself!

I'm celebrating the release of my brand-new, beginner-friendly pattern, "Find Me" — a cheeky design inspired by the game Meccha Chameleon that is set to become the first in a fun little three-part series 🤞 Of course, there's plenty of stitching progress to share too, from staying on track with "Flower Prairie" (even if I'm eyeing off a colour tweak) and making headway on a secret Christmas stitch for my oldest daughter, to inching closer to the finish line on "Museum After Midnight" just in time for the grand finale release.

Naturally, it wouldn't be a proper catch-up without a good old tangent. Alongside a lovely little haul of discontinued fabric and specialty floss, I dive into a candid chat about pattern designing, test stitching, and the rise of AI mockups. I'm a big believer in taking the time to properly stitch what we create rather than churning out endless designs, and I share my thoughts on why real stitches, patience, and transparent quality mean so much to our wonderful maker community.

Between recovering from a truly god-awful 72-hour bug and celebrating the quiet house now that the kids are officially back at school, my hands have been busy with stitching. We have a finished piece celebration for "Life at the Cottage" —which had a slightly abrupt ending when I chose to skip part 8— along with far too many new starts to feel guilty about. From Elle Noonan's gorgeous new pattern book "Cozy Cottage Cross-Stitch" to an irresistible winter Patreon release, the temptation to kit up new projects definitely took over this fortnight. Sorry not sorry.

Behind the scenes, my iPad is getting a workout. I'm sharing early thoughts on a Meccha Chameleon-inspired ("hide and seek" video game) pattern concept, plus a rather nervous, chatty breakdown of my sketches for the potential Dungeon Crawler Carl stitch-along.

It's new FlossTube day! I have plenty of cosy stitching updates and a few big life chats to catch up on this fortnight! On the stitching front, I managed a speedy 10-day finish on the utterly charming "Fall Fantasy House" by FlossyFoxShop, stayed on track with my current SALs, and finally hooped and hung my "Pretty Little Cities" trio (Sydney, LA, and Seattle) after having the first finish sitting around since 2022.

Beyond the hoop, I'm sharing some personal news after receiving my official neurological assessment results earlier this year, diving into early Halloween costume crafting with a very ambitious Ragatha wig for my youngest daughter, and asking for your thoughts on whether I should open custom holiday ornament orders again this season.

Happy new-FlossTube-day! In this episode, I'm sharing my newest cross-stitch pattern release, "Cascadia Edict" — my second Dungeon Crawler Carl -inspired design (with a huge shout-out to the kind stranger who helped me land on the perfect name!). I'm also dipping my toe into a brand-new, AI-free marketplace called 'fybe', showing off a fun haul from The Black Needle Society, and confessing to the fact that I've already getting ready to kick-off Christmas stitching for my girls with a K-Pop Demon Hunter piece and some tiny pixel art I found on Pinterest.

Grab your current WIP and a cuppa because this fortnight's episode is a bit of a milestone one - I am officially celebrating my 40th birthday [on recording day]! (Which is absolutely bizarre, as I'm pretty sure I was just in my mid-20s last week?) Aside from reflecting on a few wonderful birthday treats (including my recent tattoo and that amazing trip to Stitch-Con in Ohio) I'm also incredibly relieved to share an update on my back. After two solid weeks of throwing me for a loop, I am finally on the mend thanks to a much-needed therapy massage, which means I've actually been able to spend some proper time with my needle and thread again.

We have plenty of stitchy updates to dive into today, including progress on my "Life at the Cottage" and "Museum After Midnight" stitch-alongs, a confession about a major signpost mishap on my "Flower Prairie" DIY piece, and a mountain of beautiful confetti stitches on "Cat Dragon House". Plus, I am so incredibly grateful for the amazing response to my latest cross-stitch pattern release, "Carl's Creed" - thank you so much to everyone who has picked up a copy! I'll also be sharing a peek at the new pattern folder system I've recently set up to tame my digital and physical pattern stash, and asking a serious question about book-series pacing. Grab a cuppa and your current project, because we have *so* much to catch up on today..! I am freshly back from Stitch-Con, and my mind (and suitcase) is absolutely overflowing. I'm sharing a look at the incredible gifts, freebie bin treasures, and swag I came home with, plus the beautiful fabric, patterns, and needleminders I couldn't resist buying. It was such a surreal, wonderful three and a half days—including the incredibly wild experience of being recognised by six total strangers!

I also have some exciting finishes to share, including one I actually crossed the finish line on while at the retreat (yes, I got to ring the celebratory gong!). Plus, we check in on my current WIPs, including a sneaky look at an upcoming Dungeon Crawler Carl-themed design I'm working hard to release next week.

On the real-life front, it's been a mix of birthday parties, a quick update on my post-tattoo blood donation, and a classic parenting "d'oh!" moment involving Father's Day gifts that were completely forgotten while I was away.

In this episode, I'm sharing a whirlwind of updates from the past two weeks, including a look at my brand-new tattoo (and the beautiful meaning behind it), a funny tale about a hair change that needed a quick "fix", and the pure excitement of getting ready for Stitch-Con this coming weekend.

On the stitching front, we have a lot to look at. I've got progress on "Life at the Cottage" and "Museum After Midnight", a tiny bit of slow progress on "Cat Dragon House", and a brand-new start with "Quilting Fox" — because how could I resist starting with the fox? I also have a brand-new, D&D-inspired pattern in the shop called "Free Action" and would love to hear your thoughts on it.

Welcome back to the channel! It has been a busy couple of weeks on the stitching front, filled with a lovely mix of finishes, progress, and the inevitable "frogging" session. I am absolutely thrilled to share a fully finished piece with you today —complete with a beautiful new beechwood hoop— alongside a sneak peek at a brand-new D&D-inspired pattern coming to the shop very soon, and a brand-new design inspired by a certain Doctor Who joke that I couldn't get out of my head as an idea.

Of course, it wouldn't be a true update without a bit of chaos. We are checking in on several works-in-progress, including one where I managed to stitch an entire section in the completely wrong colour (whoops!). We also talk about a new simple pattern in the shop, a giveaway update, and a little tangent about upcoming stitch-alongs that I am incredibly excited for.
