Two Player Bros episodes

  • Resident Evil 3: Remake

HEADS UP: On this episode of 2pB, some of the audio from Dave is a little low, probably due to a different location and our first 3 person episode. We still got Russ Lyman and its still a good episode despite that so give it a listen! Just know that we've identified the problems and going forward this will not be an issue!

Time to hit the streets of Racoon City and get the hell out of there in this episode of 2pB! That's right, its time to talk Resident Evil 3 Remake! This time, however, Mike and Dave are joined by You Tube content creator Russ Lyman!

The Bros (and Russ) discuss everything that went wrong with this game compared to the amazing Resident Evil 2 Remake. From the lack of true fear and horror, poor boss encounters, and the over abundance of weapons and ammo, our three hosts discuss where things steered of course for this game. Russ defends the the game's pace, action, and his opinion on the boss fights against the Bros indifference.

Tune in to find out why this might have made one of 2pB's games of the year last year, but this remake sadly will not.

  • Doom Eternal

The Two Player Bros are back and this week, they're bringing Hell on Earth as they talk about Id Software's Doom Eternal.

Did Doom Eternal's tweaks from Doom (2016) have enough of an impact to change Dave's mind? Oh yeah. Hear Mike and Dave discuss how Doom Eternal has near perfect combat. They discuss how subtle changes in weapons and the importance of the Doom Slayer's arsenal has improved the game to an insane degree. Its not all sunshine and roses though; the Bros point out some failings in atmosphere, story, boss fights, and platforming.

  • Animal Crossing New Horizons

After battling demons to Hell and back again, The Two Player Bros are taking a break from "ripping and tearing" and living that getaway life courtesy of one Tom Nook in Animal Crossing: New Horizons!!!

Mike and Dave will discuss living that easy life; fishing, bug catching, planting money trees, assembling houses for a town you've created, digging for fossils...you know, normal vacation stuff! Dave also let's us know what makes Animal Crossing his favorite Nintendo franchise. Along the way they'll also chat about some of the pros and cons of new additions to the game and for some reason swear like sailors in a podcast episode about a family friendly game.

  • Doom (2016)

The Two Player Bros are taking a trip to Hell for the reboot (or is it a sequel?) of the grand-daddy of all first person shooters, Doom (2016), from Id Software.

In this episode, Mike and Dave explore how the developers turned this aging franchise into a reinvigorated blockbuster by going back to its roots. Dave plays "How Much Do They Weigh?" with the Doom Slayer and his movements. Mike teaches Dave about the auto-map feature. The Bros also discuss how the music in the game honors the originals while also becoming a heavy metal driving force for your demon slaying.

This all leads up for the next episode of 2pB where they tackle the brand new Doom: Eternal.

  • Ori and the Will of the Wisps

The Two Player Bros are taking a deep dive into the sequel to one of the best metroidvania's in gaming history; Moon Studio's Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

In this episode, Mike and Dave talk about what makes Ori and the Will of the Wisps so great. From its excellent art style and music, to its terrific chase sequences and world traversal. But no game is without its flaws and the Bros go over some parts of the game that could use a little tweaking, such as a weak, but rich combat and upgrade system, and stutter and frame-rate issues in the sequel to a game that 5 years ago, had none.

  • Cuphead - March 2020

The Two Player Bros are taking a deep dive into one of the most difficult and beautiful games released in recent memory. Studio MDHR's Cuphead.

In this episode, Mike and Dave talk about what makes Cuphead (and his pal, Mugman) such great characters. They'll discuss the history of Cuphead's development; from two brothers making over 150 designs for a videogame character to the painstaking hand drawn animations for every frame of the game and the fantastic score. The Bros will also talk about the gameplay and how uncompromisingly difficult, but incredibly fair it is to be an anthropomorphic cup filled with milk, trying to claim souls for the devil.
