When Starfleet hands the keys to a high-end starship to a bunch of Academy cadets, it predictably goes wrong. Especially when they are stuck behind enemy lines in a time of war.

  • The Man of Screen Podcast Episode 159 - Superboy: The Alien Solution/Troubled Waters
In episode 159 of the Man of Screen podcast, Mike Zummo will continue his run through the first season of the Superboy TV show with two more offerings.
First, were going to get an episode written by some comics pros. Yes, Mike Carlin and Andy Helfer of DC Comics fame are going to give us a battle between Superboy and a warrior from an alien world. What does the being want? Why is it wearing a body that reminds the viewer of a samurai?
This gives us the first enemy that attacks Superboy through Lana Lang. How does he respond? Is there a crisis of conscience? How is Superboy going to get out of this?
    What is “The Alien Solution”?
And then after outer space came to us, then were going to go home. And were going to find Smallville in crisis. And amidst this crisis, were going to meet Ma and Pa Kent. Were going to have some pie. And maybe some chicken.
So come for the food and stay for the mystery girlfriend from Clarks past or present? Who knows? You want to see some poorly choreographed fighting? This episodes got you covered.
    All that and “Troubled Waters”.
Next time: Were reaching and ending of the Ruby Spears Superman episode with “The Last Time I Saw Earth” and the Superman Family Album story, “Its Superman”.

The most heinous term you could call a woman in the 21st Century (Try it. . . see what happens.)
Yeah, you dont want any part of that. Anyway . . .
So while we sit in for another week at home, 3rd Degree Byrne pulls out a little known Byrne book from 1994.
Under the Dark Horse Legend banner, we get BABE!
That is right. John Byrne put out few creator owned titles at Dark Horse Comics back in the day and BABE was the most unusual. Wanna know why? Listen in as guest Intern Kirk Greefield joins the usual Byrneouts, Tim Elliott and Brian Hughes and they just might tell you what is so different about BABE.
Now, here is a little way back moment: Friend of the show, Michael Carlile writes a blog called The Crapbox of Son Of Cthulhu
Mike covered this very issue of BABE a few years back and had some in-depth analysis. Please check out his coverage here: http://crapboxofcthulhu.blogspot.com/2016/01/the-fairer-sex-part-x-babe-1.html
Dont have this issue? Kirk provides instructions and warnings on how to read this book for free, so heed his words.
Now, grab a Frozen Margarita (A favorite drink of Lucille Ball, another bright Red Head), sit back and enjoy as 3rd Degree Byrne Covers BABE #1.
