In episode 113 of the Man of Screen podcast, Mike Zummo begins his penultimate episode covering the fall 1978 season of Superfriends, the season commonly referred to as “Challenge of the Superfriends”
First, there is a jailbreak on a distant planet, the local law enforcement cant handle it. So what do they do? They call the Superfriends. Batman shows up, takes care of business and Capricorn Kid swears revenge.
And Kid wants “Batman: Dead or Alive”.
Then Toyman invents a device that works better than he expected. Hes going to transport people into storybooks and its also a great way to get rid of the Superfriends.
Come, gather around, children, lets read “A Fairy Tale of Doom”.
And now lets go on a space mission. Lets save some kind of floating city and then lets get called away because a couple of Goddesses got into a catfight.
Are the Superfriends worthy? Lets hear about “The Battle of the Gods”.
And then its that special day. The one every superhero dreads.
The day when three members of the Legion of Doom break away from the main group and wreak some havoc on their own. What happens next? They get caught? They escape?
And the Legion of Doom calls the Superfriends for help?
    What?
    Its “Doomsday”.
Next time: Mike will complete his coverage of the 1978 season of Superfriends with the new Superfriends episodes, “Journey Through Innerspace” and “Rise and Fall of the Superfriends” and the Challenge of the Superfriends episodes, “Superfriends Rest in Peace” and “History of Doom”.

  • Preacher Season Three Episode Ten
Chris, Scott and Pat finally cover the season three finale, which hopefully isnt the series finale (Seriously AMC, I wont be responsible for my actions) of Preacher. Jesse, fueled by rage and revenge comes back to Angelville with the power of Genesis back in his grasp….Or throat. He has to go through Jody first if he wants to get to grandma and trust me when I say, you wont be “board” with this fight. Meanwhile, Tulip is fighting Nazis, The Saint is fighting Nazis and Eugene is fighting Hitler on the bus ride to Hell. Finally, Cassidy is resolving his time with Les Enfants du Sang and Herr Starr makes a glorious appearance as well. Its time to hit the road again with the Preacher crew and hopefully not for the final time on Weekly Heroics!
