Two True Freaks

A long time ago, the Prophets were speaking....and we were listening then too. Re-presenting the very first Listen to the Prophets episode, as Paul, Andrew and Shawn took the reins of Star Trek Monthly Monday for an episode and a new show was born.

Join Chris Honeywell and Scott McGregor as they scour garage sales and ponder the questions - Can the weather be TOO NICE? Can there be TOO MANY garage sales? Is there such a thing as TOO MUCH nerd toys? What do you do when you RUN OUT OF MONEY BUT DON'T RUN OUT OF GARAGE SALES?What DO you DO?

In this week's ball-saving episode, Magnus fulfills a promise made last year by paying homage to Astro City vol. 02 #01, the ongoing series that debuted in 1996.

Yes, it's really happening! Promises can be kept and dreams can come true!

Much fawning is done over this awesome issue's splendid awesomeness and splendor. It's splendid!

That's a good word, isn't it? Splendid!

Anyway, so copious amounts of time gets spent studying Astro City #01 in a level of detail which some might consider unnecessary. A splendid time is guaranteed to all!

So what else do you need? Download this sucker right now or else Thunderhead will snack on your hometown.

Due to the avalanche of awesomeness, there's just no time for listener feedback this week. But Magnus has slowly been getting caught up lately. There's been some feedback recently so don't be left out! You too can offer your feeble effort at tribute whenever you want! Yes indeed, you humble serfs are always welcome to kiss your benevolent leader's ring. Corrupt DiManzocorp interns are ready, willing, able and eager to accept your bribe to present your meager missives to your wise emperor. The email address to use is [email protected] as the other seems to be having technical problems.

In an another sublime act of truly ball-shriveling magnanimity, your emperor permits you lowly rabble to suggest topics for a future episode. Thus, requests may be sent to [email protected] for the aforementioned corrupt DiManzocorp interns (who probably lack souls) to review, whereupon your leader might consider thinking about the possibility of potentially discussing whatever you have in mind some day. And that's a promise!

In episode 70 of The Man of Screen Podcast, Mike Zummo will return briefly from his summer hiatus to bring you the horrid and the better portions of the inbetween years in Supermans onscreen history.

Between the end of the George Reeves series and the beginning of the Filmation cartoons was an interesting time for Superman as Mike will cover two unaired pilots that were meant to fill the void left by The Adventures of Superman.

First, the property went to the dogs as Mike will cover the unaired pilot, “The Adventures of Super Pup” as Superman and his cast of characters were turned into you guessed it, “dogs”. And there was no supervillain at work here. This was planned to be an actual show. Thats all thats going to be said.

Then in 1961, the “Adventures of Superboy” received a pilot but no further episodes. This show was based on the Superboy comics of the time and was a much more faithful and serious adaptation than the aforementioned Super Pup. This time, youll want to know Mikes take.

Next time: The show will return to its weekly schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 5 as Mike embarks on the 17-week coverage of Filmations “The New Adventures of Superman”.

Join Hope Mullinax and Chris Honeywell as they bring you the fourth episode of the fourth season of Star Wars - The Clone Wars - SHADOW WARRIOR! There will be - GUNGUNS - GRIEVY VS JAR JAR! - ANAKIN GETS THE SHOCKER AGAIN - BONE NOSE - HOSTAGE TRADES and SPACE-VOODOO MIND CONTROL! Also - YODA GETS MOIST and MOSSY!

All the way from Seattle Washington, special guest host (and most recent sacrificial virgin) Patrick Delmore debuts on the Preachercast to help Chris, Scott and Brian recap the fifth episode of the second season. Jesse has Viktor in a chokehold and it pretty much goes south from there. Cue the flashbacks to the Custer and OHare story that happened after the betrayal by Carlos as we head to Dallas for some back story. Back in the present, poor Cassidy is stuck between a rock and a hard place as he now has both friends pissed at him. Will we see Jesse go full vengeance on Viktor or will Tulips pleadings save his life? Its a slow burn of an episode that ties into the first season and sets up another inevitable encounter with the Saint of Killers. Its a thrust filled episode of Preacher, so grab a beer and mount up!

Join your intrepid hosts -THEM JACONETTI BOYS (Luke & Jason) and THE AMAZING TWO-HEADED CHRIS (Tyler & Honeywell) as they take peer inside the WOMB of the 5th Nightmare On Elm Street film- THE DREAM CHILD! The boys are not too keen on this one! Only THREE deaths, annoying teens and an even more annoying kid! Find out what Luke means when he says "This film has a LOT of foam peanuts"!

Its off to 18th Century France on this episode of WHO TRUE FREAKS as were covering the David Tennant Doctor story THE GIRL IN THE FIREPLACE. This time the Doctor makes friends with a young girl, becomes her imaginary friend and pops in and out of her entire life. All this while trying to figure out why the creepy clockwork robots from a spaceship 3000 years in the future want with her and making sure that Mickey and Rose dont get used for spare parts. Not only that but hosts Dave Walker, Chris Tyler and Hope Mullinax discuss who they think should be the next Doctor. I know we know who it is now, but we didnt back then and its always fun to speculate. Plus as an added bonus, post episode we have a bit of pre episode chat for your enjoyment. So get to it and start listening already
