  • ep 30 - why is being an artist in the Caribbean so difficult?
They’re weighing in on a pressing discussion “should Caribbean islands be more supportive of their creatives.”. Differing from usual episodes, this one was suggested by a listener on an Instagram live, be sure to follow and keep an eye out there for more! This week’s old talk is split into a two-part with the second-half following up after this. That follow up being more focused on what ways Caribbean society can allow for more exposure and growth of persons in creative fields. As with most deep-rooted issues, a societal shift looks to be the one true way to improve the situation. Do you think the upcoming and current generation of young adults in Barbados can successfully drive this change?

  • ep 29 - questioning our privilege
This week your hosts follow up on their “honesty & things we need to work on” ep. With another “we’re not really strangers” old talk, this time regarding race & privilege. These conversations can be difficult to have but as challenging as they can be, they can also be similarly insightful. Through the varying levels to this exercise your hosts discuss their exposure & acknowledgment to privilege, the confusing nature of race, and how developing under differing circumstances has impacted them in vastly differing ways given similar factors. In typical WNRS fashion, the questions encourage deep thought & it is thoroughly encouraged you participate in this exercise as well. This specific version is available for free here.

  • ep 28 - worry less about “what if’s” & believe in your decisions
It's a brand new week & your hosts are dropping in with a new catch up episode centering on some of the events that have transpired recently. An obvious culprit: the current election in the US, our thoughts on the voting process & how everyone seems more focused on these elections than ever before. Being a catch-up episode it is more focused on personal events. The discussion; taking a moment to analyze the fact that it is so easy to second guess or thinks that we have made choices that are less meaningful. It is important to remember that even if the purpose is a teaching moment or simply just an experience; there's still a purpose to what we do or find ourselves doing in life.

  • ep 27 - getting real about zoom university
They're back with a brand new old talk this week! This week’s episode is one foreshadowed previously and if you missed our Instagram live, it carries on a conversation thread from there. Throughout this episode, the difference in exposure between your hosts is explored as one of them is fully enrolled in this new university format. The other on the other hand while not ignorant of the new style isn’t schooled in it, how does this dynamic play out? Do they have differing opinions or thoughts on Zoom University? One thing that can be confirmed is that they both believe teachers, students, and especially schools all need as much empathy as possible.

  • episode 26 - our personal finance education or lack thereof
This topic can incite feelings of anxiety or unease as “money conversations” can be uncomfortable to discuss. Due to this sentiment, this old talk has been put off until now as this week felt like the right time to discuss this. A brief reflection is made on the school system and how personal finance not being taught within it is a big missing. If schools aren’t preparing the youth for this sphere of adulthood the alternatives become family or friends, banks, or the internet. As per usual old talk, your hosts get personal looking at their banking experiences and different financial strategies that work for them. Be sure to leave a review, we love all the feedback!
P.s. Definitely let us know if you want an episode about the “Canada High” that amongst other things led to Neil waiting in a line for 7 hours!

  • ep 25 - we might've found this on tik tok
During this week’s old talk your hosts engage in discussion sprouting from the concept of our generation being raised to “romanticize work”. Which led to speaking about various topics like raits instilled in them by their parents, choosing whose opinions should be allowed to carry weight in your life & even separating your individual self from your work self. This episode was 100% initiated by a TikTok and it resulted in emotional conversation, a few rants & a dash of personal stories as can be expected from a usual old talk. Don’t forget to leave a review & let us know how we are doing!

  • ep 24 - the art of manifestation vs hard work & being okay being uncomfortable
Join your hosts this week as they dissect the concepts around manifestation vs. setting goals. The episode does take a left turn ending up at a discussion that even your hosts were surprised came up. Taking a personal turn the dilemma of wanting to see someone you care about in a ‘happy & comfortable state’ at the sacrifice of pushing them and furthering their growth. An emotional part of this episode boils down to being okay making that person uncomfortable for their own growth & simultaneously they being open and accepting of this challenge. Be sure to join in on the discussion on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook! Don’t forget to leave a review & let us know how we are doing!
reach out, have you been faced with this conundrum before?
