At 21 years old, Satchel Smith, a part time employee at Homewood Suites Hotel and Full Time college student, found himself as the only staff member of a hotel during Tropical Storm Imelda. Satchel took care of about 100 guests and performed all duties of the hotel in addition to helping stranded motorists on Interstate 10 as well as providing hot meals for surrounding hotel guests that needed food.
