A Called to Care:
This past Sunday (11/10), UBC, with other churches worldwide, participated in Pure Religion Sunday (formally known as Orphan Sunday)— a day of unity to reflect God’s heart for the orphaned and vulnerable.
To dive even deeper into UBC’s desire to live out James 1:27, we wanted to re-share this episode from our Mother’s Day series.
If you’re listening to this episode and want to learn more about UBC’s desire to support foster and adoptive families, email our Called to Care Ministry at [email protected]

Celebrating Mother’s Day From Hard Places: A Podcast Series Honoring ALL Mothers
As an encouragement, UBC’s Women’s Ministry recorded five podcast episodes addressing just a few of the various seasons and “hard places” of motherhood.
Are you in the thick of grafting a new child into your life and family through foster care? Do you know another mom or family looking for insight at the beginning of their adoption process? Are you or your family living alongside another as they walk the highs and lows of caring for themselves and their kids in this process? Whether or not you are a foster and adoptive parent or simply know of one, Mother’s Day can carry a lot of weight and hurt for both mother and child alike. Today, we’ll hear from Melissa Clemens, mother of 4, and Amber Wing, mother of 5, as they share their experiences walking through both foster care and adoption. They share the ups and downs of their journeys as moms through various seasons of their lives and share how they have seen our God work in and through themselves and their families.
