  • Announcing First School Chaplain from New York, Certified by NSCA

New York, was the first to host the first presidential inauguration of the first champion for CHAPLAINS —George Washington.

Now, quite honorably, New York is the home of the first school chaplain-graduate from the National School Chaplain Association!

New York is known for being the first in epic categories. The first United States Capital and the first premier financial center (NYSE and Nasdaq). Innovations sprang forth like the Otis elevators and the first passenger steamboat, to name only a few of many more that made America great.

For innovation and leadership of such a world renown epicenter to continue and survive requires vision and inspiration, which starts at school.

This is why school chaplaincy is so critical. Faith based support has shown to increase confidence, interpersonal relationships, creativity, mutual respect, productivity, stewardship of property, love for country, merit-based work ethics, joy hope and peace. These foundations have been slipping in recent years, but are critical for an atmosphere for ingenuity, academic successes and a stable and thriving society.

The full article is found on the editorial page under news and media tab of The National School Chaplains Association Website, www.nsca.global

This will be of interest to advocates for civilian and military chaplains, faith groups, philanthropists, educators, schools, parents, foster parents, foundations for the underserved youth, student advocates, legislators, Congress and religious liberty advocates.

Prior to enrolling in the NSCA Academy, it's newest chaplain gained decades of well-rounded education and experience in ministry, working as a nurse and as a masters prepared social worker; bringing students and teachers through their darkest storms.

Civilian Chaplain Care is vital in all sectors where stress and danger lurks. Unfortunately, this can happen anywhere —even in the schools.

This matters because, the presence of a chaplain specifically trained for the school environment (including crises like active shooter, stop the bleed, threat assessment, and prevention) demonstrates why more and more are recognizing the value and demand for faith-based care. This speaks for itself.

According to the quote from the Military Chaplaincy Review (2024) "Practical reasons for assigning chaplains to regiments and later, to brigades included the roles eighteenth-century clergy played in educational, social and moral leadership in civilian and military organizations."

Proponents of chaplaincy were marked by divine protection. George Washington had four bullet holes in his coat and two horses shot from under him, yet remained alive. Risking their lives for others, surviving bullets; both he and President Trump recognized the importance of the religious freedoms that America was built upon and thusly sustain as one nation under God.

New York is a leader of opportunity!

In a world focused on inclusivity, school chaplaincy should not be excluded. The “Big Apple” has a chance to choose the fruit of a stable society. The vibrancy and freedoms that birthed New York, as the first epicenter, was built upon the kind of faith and the backs of its original forerunners, and with God’s blessing.

In discussing the article, author, Dorothy Kozar, Editorial Contributor at National School Chaplain Association said: “Endorsed chaplain care is spreading across America.

You can collaborate with NSCA to build something transformative for a productive, joyful and stable society.

Any school district in the United States can hire a certified chaplain. The authority already exists at the local level. The constitutionality of chaplains was decided 250 years ago.”

Regular readers of NSCA find the familiar tone as; 'Non-confrontational, but compelling for a call to action.'

Submit questions and comments to their website www.nsca.global

They invite a fresh look at all sides of the issue simply because dialog dispels misconceptions and accomplishes important things that otherwise would be lost. It's an opportunity to become better together!

  • Hiring Dance Instructors: Studio Staffing Tips For Long-Term Stability

You're watching talented instructors slip through your fingers, and you can't figure out why. They interview well, seem excited about the opportunity, then suddenly accept offers from studios that don't even have your reputation or facilities. Meanwhile, the teachers you do hire rarely last more than a season before moving on, leaving you trapped in an endless cycle of recruitment that's bleeding your energy and your bank account dry.

Here's the uncomfortable truth: your hiring process is broken, and the best teachers can see it from a mile away. They're not choosing other studios because those owners got lucky. They're choosing them because those studios treat hiring like the business-critical decision it actually is, while you're still winging it and hoping for the best.
Let's start with how you're presenting opportunities to potential hires. When your job posting reads like a two-line afterthought, qualified instructors keep scrolling. They need to know what styles you're looking for, what age groups they'd be teaching, how many classes per week, and what your studio actually stands for. Without these details, you're essentially asking strangers to commit to something completely undefined. The professionals worth hiring won't waste their time applying when they can't even tell if their skills match what you need. You end up drowning in applications from people who have no business teaching in your studio, while the perfect candidate never even saw your post as a real opportunity.
Then there's the vetting process, or rather, the lack of one. When you're desperate to fill a spot, it's tempting to fast-track someone who seems decent enough. Maybe they come recommended by a friend, or they have an impressive performance background, so you skip the hard parts. But here's what happens next: you hand over a classroom full of children to someone you haven't properly screened, and you're essentially gambling with your studio's entire future. One problematic hire doesn't just create headaches. It can expose you to liability that ends your business and harms kids in ways you'll never forgive yourself for. Taking the time to verify previous employment, confirm credentials directly with issuing organizations, and run comprehensive background checks isn't paranoia. It's the bare minimum when you're responsible for children's safety.
Even when you do find someone with legitimate credentials, you might be making another critical mistake. You see an impressive performance resume and assume teaching ability comes automatically. It doesn't. The most technically brilliant dancer can be absolutely terrible at breaking down a simple chassé for a confused seven-year-old. Teaching requires patience, communication skills, and the ability to read a room full of kids with completely different learning styles. If you're not watching candidates actually teach during the interview process, you're hiring blind. A trial class reveals everything a resume hides. You'll see immediately whether someone can manage classroom energy, explain concepts clearly, give feedback that builds confidence instead of crushing it, and actually connect with students. Skip this step and you'll discover their shortcomings three weeks into the semester when parents start complaining.
Here's another place studios lose great teachers before they even make an offer: cultural mismatch. You might be running a recreational studio focused on joy and self-expression, but you hire an instructor who only cares about competition placements and winning streaks. Or maybe you're building a serious pre-professional program, and you bring on someone who wants every class to be free-from creative exploration. Either way, you've just created confusion for families and frustration for everyone involved. Before you interview anyone, get crystal clear on what your studio actually values. Then be direct about it during conversations instead of saying whatever you think candidates want to hear. Listen to how they talk about their previous experiences. Their priorities will show up loud and clear in those stories, and if they don't align with yours, it doesn't matter how talented they are.
Now let's talk about the issue that drives away more qualified instructors than anything else: compensation. If you're paying bottom-of-the-barrel wages because you assume teachers will work for passion alone, you're guaranteeing high turnover. Talented instructors have bills to pay just like everyone else, and they will absolutely leave for studios that value their expertise appropriately. The cycle this creates costs you far more than competitive wages ever would. Every time someone quits, you lose institutional knowledge, disrupt student progress, waste money training replacements, and risk losing families who bonded with that teacher. Research what other studios in your area actually pay. Entry-level instructors typically earn between thirty-eight and forty-eight thousand annually. Mid-level teachers with proven track records command forty-nine to sixty-two thousand. Senior instructors with leadership responsibilities can earn sixty-three to eighty thousand or more. Beyond base pay, benefits matter enormously. Professional development funding, flexible scheduling, and opportunities to lead special projects keep experienced teachers engaged and loyal.
Finally, even when you hire the right person at the right pay, you can still lose them in the first few months if your onboarding is nonexistent. Handing someone a schedule and pointing them toward a classroom isn't support. It's abandonment. New hires need a comprehensive orientation covering your policies, curriculum standards, safety procedures, and available resources. Pair them with an experienced mentor who can observe classes, provide feedback, and answer questions about all the unwritten expectations every studio has. Regular check-ins during those crucial early months help you catch and fix small problems before they become reasons to quit.
Your hiring process shapes everything about your studio's future. When you get it right, you build a stable team that families trust and recommend. Click the link in the description for more resources on building your team.

  • Why MBA Rankings Don't Tell the Whole Story: What Actually Matters in 2026

You're scrolling through MBA rankings at midnight, convinced that a top-ten program is your golden ticket to success. But here's what nobody tells you: that shiny number next to a school's name might be the worst thing you use to make one of the biggest decisions of your life.

I'm not saying rankings are useless, but they're dangerously incomplete. They measure what's easy to quantify while ignoring what actually transforms your career. And the gap between those two things? That's where dreams either take flight or crash hard.
Let me explain what I mean. Rankings obsess over average GMAT scores and starting salaries, but they can't measure whether you'll actually enjoy learning in that environment. They can't tell you if the professors will mentor you beyond graduation or if the alumni network will actually pick up the phone when you need them. These invisible factors determine whether your MBA becomes a launchpad or just an expensive credential gathering dust.
The reality is brutal. Students pick programs based on prestige alone, then find themselves two semesters in, realizing the teaching style doesn't match how they learn. Or worse, they discover the specialization they wanted is barely supported, taught by faculty who haven't worked in that industry for a decade. The ranking didn't warn them about any of this because it couldn't.
Here's what actually matters, and I promise you won't find this on any ranking chart. First, look at where professors spend their time when they're not teaching. Are they consulting with companies you want to work for? Are they publishing research that addresses problems you care about solving? Because those connections become your connections. A professor actively engaged in their field doesn't just teach concepts; they open doors. They make introductions. They turn theoretical knowledge into real opportunities that bypass the traditional application process entirely.
Then there's accreditation, something most students treat as a checkbox. But accreditation isn't just bureaucratic paperwork. Bodies like AACSB don't hand out approval lightly. They dig into curriculum quality, faculty credentials, and student outcomes. Without proper accreditation, your expensive degree might not transfer if you pursue further education, and some employers will filter you out before you even get an interview. Verify this yourself through the accrediting agency's website, not just the school's marketing materials, because some institutions get creative with how they present their status.
Now let's talk about money, because rankings compare sticker prices while ignoring the financial reality most students actually face. That prestigious program with the intimidating tuition might offer generous scholarships you haven't discovered yet. Meanwhile, that affordable option might have hidden costs that drain your savings. Calculate the full picture: housing in that city, healthcare, the professional wardrobe you'll need for networking events, travel for interviews. And don't forget the big one: two years of salary you're giving up. The true return on investment requires comparing expected salary increases against total costs and realistic loan repayment timelines in your specific field.
Some of you might qualify for employer sponsorship, where your company covers tuition in exchange for you returning after graduation. Others might find merit-based aid or targeted funding for candidates bringing diverse perspectives. But you'll never know unless you dig deeper than what appears in the rankings and have honest conversations with admissions offices about what's available.
Career services deserve more attention than they typically get. A program might boast a ninety-five percent placement rate, but dig into those numbers. Which industries are hiring graduates? What are the actual starting salaries? How long does the average job search take? Generic career services that treat every student the same can't compete with specialized teams that understand your target industry and maintain relationships with relevant employers. These connections often determine whether you land your dream role or settle for whatever comes along first.
The alumni network might be the most underrated factor of all. An engaged alumni community provides mentorship, referrals, and access to opportunities never posted publicly. But network size means nothing if alumni aren't actually involved. Look for programs where graduates regularly attend events, participate in online communities, and maintain formal mentorship programs. Talk to current students about their interactions with alumni and whether those connections led to tangible opportunities. This reveals whether the network exists only on paper or actually delivers value.
Geographic location shapes your entire experience in ways rankings can't capture. Programs in certain cities give you access to specific industries, relevant companies, guest speakers, and networking events that simply don't exist elsewhere. If you're targeting tech, being in the wrong region limits your exposure no matter how prestigious the program. If you want finance, proximity to financial centers matters more than a few ranking spots.
Then there's learning style, something completely absent from rankings. Some programs emphasize case studies while others focus on quantitative analysis or hands-on consulting with real companies. Some thrive on large cohorts with diverse specializations, while others offer smaller, intimate environments with closer faculty relationships. Neither approach is superior, but one matches how you learn and grow, while the other might leave you frustrated and disconnected.
Here's the bottom line: rankings measure what's convenient to measure, not what matters most for your success. They create the illusion of objective comparison while ignoring the subjective factors that determine whether you'll thrive. Your MBA choice deserves more thought than comparing numbers on a website.
Click on the link in the description to pick an MBA program based on what actually impacts your career, not just what looks good in a ranking.

  • Ways To Transform Mediocre Dance Classes Into Magic: Best Studio Lesson Plans

You know that feeling when you walk into class with a solid plan, but somehow the energy falls flat? Your students go through the motions, execute the steps correctly, but something's missing. They look like they're following instructions instead of actually dancing. Meanwhile, you're wondering why last Tuesday's class felt electric while today feels like pulling teeth.

Here's what most dance teachers don't realize—the difference between a class students tolerate, and one they can't wait for has nothing to do with how many new combinations you create or how perfectly you demonstrate technique. The magic lives in five foundational elements that transform movement from mechanical repetition into actual artistry. Once you understand how to weave these into your teaching, everything changes.
Let's start with the body, which sounds obvious until you really think about it. Most of us teach steps—chasse, ball change, pirouette—but we forget to teach dancers how their bodies actually work as instruments of expression. When you shift focus to body awareness, students stop just copying what they see and start moving with genuine intention. Try asking your beginners to make three different angular shapes instead of demonstrating a specific pose. Watch what happens. They engage their brains, make choices, and discover that curved positions feel completely different from sharp ones. Advanced students can explore how initiating movement from the sternum versus the pelvis creates entirely different qualities. Suddenly, they're thinking dancers, not just moving bodies.
Then there's energy, which separates the technical robots from the artists every single time. A simple walk can express joy, anger, sadness, determination—the movement stays the same, but energy transforms everything. Rudolf Laban figured this out and gave us a framework that actually works in real classrooms. Space effort—direct and laser-focused versus scattered and wandering. Weight effort—strong and forceful versus light and delicate. Time effort—sudden and urgent versus sustained and leisurely. Flow effort—bound and controlled versus free and uninhibited.
Here's a quick experiment you can run tomorrow. Take any combination that your students know well. Have them perform it with strong, sudden, direct energy like they're frustrated or powerful. Then do it again with light, sustained, indirect movement that feels dreamy and playful. The difference will blow their minds because they'll finally understand that technique without quality communicates absolutely nothing.
Space gets overlooked constantly, but it's where visual design happens. We're not just talking about spacing formations for the recital. Personal space, that bubble around each dancer's body, teaches students about near-reach movements that stay close to the center versus far-reach that extends to maximum. Challenge your class to create a phrase using only near-reach, then expand that exact phrase to far-reach. They'll discover how range affects both how movement looks and how demanding it feels physically.
Levels matter too—high with jumps and leaps, middle between shoulders and knees, low on the floor. Most classes stay perpetually in the middle space, which creates visual monotony and bored students. Pathways add another dimension. Straight lines feel direct and purposeful, curves suggest fluidity, spirals build momentum, zigzags create dynamic energy. Have students walk a figure eight, then layer in different qualities or speeds. That simple spatial exercise just became rich choreographic material.
Time is where rhythm and musicality live, and students need way more than eight-count ability. They need to understand how tempo, rhythm patterns, and phrasing shape everything they do. Execute the same phrase at three different speeds—fast challenges quickness, moderate allows fuller expression, slow demands control and stamina. Each speed creates essentially different material. Rhythm patterns come from everywhere.
Students can clap the rhythm of their own names or favorite foods, discovering how natural speech translates into dance timing. Advanced work brings in syncopation, accenting off-beats to create unexpected emphasis. Natural rhythms offer another approach—breath cycles, heartbeats, ocean wave patterns. Modern choreographer Doris Humphrey created entire works without musical accompaniment, using only breath to cue timing. Students who experience this realize rhythm exists beyond recorded music.
Action covers the actual movement vocabulary, from basic locomotor steps to style-specific terminology. Ballet has tendu, plié, and arabesque. Modern explores contractions, releases, and falls. Hip hop features isolations, waves, and foundational grooves. The key isn't collecting hundreds of step names—it's introducing vocabulary systematically while reinforcing what students already know. Otherwise, you get dancers who recognize dozens of terms but can't execute any of them well.
Combinations and sequences take this further because transitions matter as much as the movements themselves. Awkward connective tissue ruins otherwise solid technique. Start simple. Three movements linked smoothly beat ten movements executed sloppily every single time. As students master small sequences, expand by adding variations in direction, level, or quality. That simple combination just became a full phrase with artistic merit.
Here's what happens when you intentionally address all five elements instead of randomly picking exercises or repeating favorite combinations. Students develop deeper movement literacy. They analyze movement, create their own work, and appreciate dance as art instead of just physical activity.
Most teachers discover they emphasize body and action while shortchanging energy, space, and time. Making deliberate choices to balance all five areas creates comprehensive education that produces thinking, feeling dancers. Click on the link in the description for practical frameworks that help you weave these concepts into your weekly class structures and discover new ways to bring these foundational elements to life in your studio.

  • School Chaplains Avert Identity Crisis

National School Chaplain Association publishes the Dangers of Identity Crisis and how School Chaplains can uniquely circumvent damaging consequences. Spiritual support is the missing link to complete the multidisciplinary approach. Chaplains are needed to work alongside secular, medical and psychiatric modalities for better outcomes.

Target audience includes mental health providers, schools, safety officers, suicide prevention groups, economists, physicians, legislators, teachers, parents, faith groups and religious liberty advocates. Law enforcement, will appreciate learning more because unnecessary turmoil, violence and loss of life has transpired.

Also, this topic affects employers who suffer productivity inefficiency. Valuable time is lost addressing conflict resolution among coworkers.

School administrators will find this interesting because they suffer academic decline, public pressure and financial loss due to parents removing their children from public schools. Academic decline is associated with a shift in student focus to social unrest and preoccupation with identity issues and labels. Peer pressure is at an all-time high with serious consequences.

View the full article at National School Chaplains Association website News and Media Editorial page

The article includes timely and critical information, describing identity as more than physical appearance and sexual orientation alone. The built-in sex drive is purposeful, but public behavioral boundaries strengthen respect for self and others.

Most importantly, the article communicates that; "The danger lies, when identity is forced upon others." Far spread implications extend beyond the individual. Emotional, physical and financial collapse has impacted families and all of society.

    Article extract:

'Identity is a vital part of the 8 stages of development, described by psychosocial theorist Erik Erickson (McLeod, 2025). Unresolved conflict at any stage, hinders healthy development to the next stage. Recently, the psychosocial struggles have developed into life-altering and irreversible damage. '

In discussing the article's creation, Dorothy Kozar, Editorial Contributor and Speaker at National School Chaplain Association said: "Suicide rates have escalated. After the reality of permanent consequences comes to light, depression climbs due to crippling guilt and deep regret. Irreversible physical alterations through sex change surgeries have taken place. Life-long need for hormone therapy is costly, both emotionally and financially. Disabilities from multiple personality disorders have surfaced. What is the price of fitting-in?"

Regular readers of National School Chaplain Association will notice the article takes a familiar tone, which has been described as; 'Non-confrontational, but compels a deeper perspective for a call to action.'

National School Chaplain Association welcomes comments and questions from readers, inviting a fresh look at all sides of the issue. Dialog dispels misconceptions and accomplishes important things that would otherwise be lost. It's an opportunity to become better together!

  • Good Probiotics for Dogs Now Recognized as Key to Microbiome Support

Most dog owners know that diet matters. But what about the trillions of bacteria living inside a dog's gut? Together, these tiny organisms work like a hidden organ. They help with digestion, boost immunity, and keep dogs healthy overall.

Good probiotics do more than calm an upset stomach. They make short-chain fatty acids that feed helpful bacteria. These acids also build barriers that block toxins from entering the body. This is why vets often call the gut the center of canine health.
Three probiotic types work best for dogs.
The first is Saccharomyces boulardii. This beneficial yeast helps calm digestive problems fast. It keeps working even when given with other treatments.
The second type includes lactic acid bacteria. Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium are the most studied strains. They make acids that stop harmful bacteria from growing. These strains also help with mood and immune function.
The third type is spore-forming probiotics. Bacillus coagulans and Bacillus subtilis fall into this group. These tough strains survive stomach acid and harsh gut conditions. They work well for dogs with ongoing digestive issues.
Dosing depends on the strain type. Lactic acid bacteria need about ten billion CFU for daily maintenance. Dogs with gut or immune problems may need twenty-five to fifty billion CFU. Spore-forming probiotics only need one billion CFU because they survive so well.
Natural foods also offer probiotic benefits. Green tripe contains live beneficial bacteria. Kefir provides multiple bacterial strains plus vitamins. Both make great additions to a dog's diet.
When shopping for supplements, pet owners should check the label for specific strain names and CFU counts. Quality products also include prebiotics like chicory root or inulin. These fibres feed the probiotics and help them thrive once they reach the gut.
