In part 2 of Iram's episode, we discuss the importance of switching off when you leave the work place (easier said than done) and Iram takes us through a difficult encounter she had with a colleague in the workplace and how she dealt with it alongside her final words of advice for life as an FY1 doctor.

In this episode Iram talks through her first challenging weekend shift and covers how she dealt with a critically unwell patient, the importance of prioritising jobs and dealing with the stress of difficult shifts.

In this episode, I speak to Ava about her first week at work, what things she had to learn early on and how to request scans (and get them accepted!). Ava also takes us through a case where she had to break bad news and how she dealt with it.

For the purpose of this episode we cut out the discussion on how to use the SPIKES framework as you're probably very familiar with this given your recent exams, but in case you need a refresher, SPIKES stands for Setting, Perception, Invitation, Knowledge, Emotion/Empathy, Summary/Strategy.
