The coverup is older than you think. He also reveals that his father worked for the Atomic Energy Commission near the Nevada Test Site, and Linda Moulton Howe raised the question of whether that nuclear connection made his family a target.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department secretly recorded Parker and Hickson alone together, trying to catch a lie. The tape, which surfaced publicly decades later, captured genuine terror, including Hickson telling Parker it scared him to death, like stepping on a rattlesnake.
