About The Guest Debbie Ziegelmeyer of Imperial, Missouri is a small business owner and Scuba Dive Instructor. She joined MUFON in 2000, became a Field Investigator shortly after, and has investigated over 900 MUFON sighting reports. Debbie currently holds several positions in MUFON including State Director of Missouri, Functional Director of Underwater Research and Recovery, and is a member of the Business Board of Directors. She, along with Tom Ferrario, formed the MUFON Dive Team in 2003, and is a member of the Tom Ferrario CPTR team founded by Ted Phillips. She is the author of “The Alien Colonization of Earth’s Waterways,” (all about USOs!) and the co-author, with Margie Kay, of the book, “The 50th Anniversary of the Ozarks Missouri UFO Flap.” Debbie has been a Roswell, NM festival speaker, and was a volunteer archeologist on the 2002 and 2006 Roswell skip-site digs. She has appeared on several UFO related TV specials, most recently appearing on two episodes of "Alaska Triangle" and several episodes of "Roswell the Final Verdict." Debbie has appeared as a guest speaker on several radio and podcast shows, was a quest speaker on the 2019 MUFON cruise, and was a MUFON Symposium guest speaker in 2013, 2017, and 2021. Her additional speaking appearances include the 2017 Devil's Tower "UFO Rendezvous, 2018 "Alien Cosmic Expo" in Toronto, Canada, Arkansas Paranormal Expo in 2018, 2019, and 2022, 2021 Oz Conference speaker, and the 2022 Shag Harbour UFO XPO.

When Spencer Sekulin isn’t on the road as a paramedic or studying medicine, he is most likely writing. Born and raised in Ontario, Canada, Spencer fell in love with books at a young age, with authors like Terry Brooks and Eoin Colfer giving him an appetite for speculative fiction. Though he didn’t begin writing until university, he quickly discovered that it was just as fun as reading—and the rest is history. His passions include emergency medicine, homemade coffee, travel obscura, and of course, writing. Writers of the Future is Spencer’s first professional sale. “The Children of Desolation” started as a story title with no story, and sat for several years before he stumbled across it again, whereupon several separate ideas happened to click together. “Sometimes stories take us by surprise, and then drag us on rides we didn’t expect. In my case, this one started running right away, leaving me to catch up in its dust.” Most of it was written on a covered porch during a torrential downpour.Regarding the story itself, Spencer felt drawn to its protagonist, Tumelo Laska. His burden of heritage, and his moral struggle between doing what is right and putting family before all else, lends well to the sense of desperation of the post-apocalyptic setting. Though the world may end, humans have always loved, lost, and sought redemption—and always will. Spencer hopes it is a story that conveys the importance of family, the indomitableness of the human spirit, and power of forgiveness.
